I have Ubuntu and XP dual boot on my laptop, for windows.. I use Messenger and Skype, for Gnome, Pidgin i think is the best choice. (there is a skype for linux version, I tried it in another distro which can run smoothly, however I haven't install it to my Ubuntu)
