I remember once I met a Ugandan girl from lavalife.com, her photo was lovely. She was lovely too, as a person. The photo was obviously taken 20 years and very many pies previous to our meeting though. Not that I have anything against people who eat pies, it would have just been nice to see a more recent photo, that's all. I guess webcams can get around the 'photo from twenty years ago' problem, but like telephoning someone you've never met before, it's quite a big step on a dating site.

I occasionally think of trying to start a social networking site, but I think those require a seed community of beautiful people, who may or may not be well rewarded for looking invitingly at the camera. I wouldn't go as far as but I can imagine the first few dozen members may need some incentive to join an empty site. You should definitely give lavalife a go, although it's much bigger in the northern hemisphere. Yes, I know...technically... we are.

Maybe we should start an h2h (heart2heart) site that doesn't actually have any members, just exposes an API for other dating sites to use. Just scrape members' photos and details from existing sites, then implement a simple message exchange protocol allowing people to send cross-dating-site messages to each other. Run it for free for a few months, then slide in a sign-up fee. Everybody say Kuching!
