Anyone know to host own forum under personal blog??

i hav no idea how to do it..i have seen ppl using phpBB2 or phpBB3 to create it but stil confuse with the procedure on it..may i know what is the 1st step that i should do? i have open source of the phpBB3 and have to upload it to my web accessible directory..means root directory ?? after that have to change the config.h file to be writable by all (666 or -rw-rw-rw- within your FTP Client)??
