I'm not an expert in blog software but there are a huge number of bloggers using wordpress.
You may want to consider that.

Currently use wordpress, but plan to switch to Movable Type. Best open source blogs software is wordpress I think...

personally i prefer textpattern although it doesn't have as many plugins developed comparing with wordpress and mt.
in development wise i agreed that wordpress/mt are more developed than txp, in performance wise, txp beats wp though, haven't seen a benchmark comparison between txp and mt yet.

yes, textpattern is better performance than WP and MT. But, it is not sighficant if your site is not slashdotted, i mean getting VERY VERY MUCH traffic.
