erm.ya..as "iamfreelancer" replied....it is depend on which kind of hosting reseller u apply. some company's reseller plan is based on affiliate program. some based on u buy a reseller space n set your own package n pricing.

the term of "reseller" is different from each company. but common is a company come out some reseller package and buyer buy it n and set his own package n pricing. if u not able to sell it, u have to bear for the risk.

if based on affiliate reseller program, most of the time u cant set own price n package, but u have no risk at all.

but as reply 14 as wingwp mention on the domain name, i not so understand...
i tough we paid for the 10 domain for resell, the domain validity is start on the date we create right...upon customer buy...

erm... the credit inside your domain reseller account is never expired..
let said u register a domain name cost USD 7.99. the cost of 7.99 will charge from your account credits. the domain subscription period is from the date u register and the period is 1 year contract.

ya..u r right... buy a stock of 12 cookies the possibilities to sell it all in 1 day is very low. and the profit for domain is actually low. normally the profit for each domain is RM 12-20 if the price in RM 40. so the revenue is so low and the time to spend to sell out all of the stock is not short.

but as a part timer or treat it as side income.....mayb i have a different view with u. for me..as long as a business is profitable, it is worth to do if the cost and risk is low.

for domain selling business..i treat it as a great opportunity. the starting cost normally is only the prepayment fund. at this moment what i found the lowest is USD 80 for 10 domain name. let said we sell it RM 40/domain. total sales is RM 400. cost is USD 80 x 3.5 = RM 280. so our profit at this level is RM 120 only. oh my god.. so low...but....the possibilities those customer renew their domain through u is not low. so next year they will find u again to renew it. so new year u do nothing u get another RM 120. if u can sell more. u get more without do anything....

PS1: i m a college student who run domain business for nearly 1 year and my domains volume is about 120 + . as a student, this small amount of side income consider high for me.

PS2: sorry for my poor language. coz i m chinese educated student.

actually RM120 is equal to 30% profit... for IT market, normally the hardware u all buy outside, the margin for the boss are around 5 to 8%, that why some time u buy PC or accessory with credit card need to charges 3 more percent.

so for a business, profit above 25 percent consider ok...
