i need to know wether the domain is fully under my name... and i have the right on it... not only can control the domain...

most of the time, buying a hosting will get free domain or buy the domain from the same provide at the same time. this always make those "website beginner" dun noe what is domain name. so most of the provider will only give the buyer a hosting control panel. the domain control panel they will keep themself.

some provider more worse..the domain register under their name and email. this make buyer unable to do domain transfer.

ideally, register a domain from a respected domain registration site such as godaddy, namecheap etc.
if it happen that you get a 'free' domain with a webhosting service, just make sure you can transfer the domain in case you are no longer want to use their service in the future. some wen hosting will not allow the domain to be transfer in order to bond you with their service.

godaddy automatically lock Ur domain but U can change it in the panel

godaddy automatically renew Ur domain wen its about to expire! >
& U can change it in the panel also

hate tis settings cos it renew my unwanted domains automatically..

I never log in into my panel... must have to take a look then

for .my domain... use whois search in mynic.net

for .com domain... use whois search in internic.net

Just make sure the registrant name is yours on the result page...

as u all mention... some time free domain did not actually own by us...
so self register is the best way to ensure the domain is own by u

hello. can i ask, why do we need to get approval from MIMOS for .my domain name, when some other countries' domain name like .us (united states) or .in (india) even allow people from outside their countries to purchase the domain name extension??

dude, this is MALAYSIA, do you see before an video said "ini malaysia, tak suke keluar dari sini"?

haha..just kidding, so far i know that for .my registration, it need a malaysian NIRC or a malaysia registed company to purchase... Probably to control on people/outsider use .my to do bad thing...

may be people use "www. scaminvestment. com.my"

Dude, are you guys trying to bring up some kind of racism issue here? I'm sorry, but i only asked about a "domain name" extension. If you want to relate that to whatever kind of racism issue or all that stuff Malaysian citizens are facing whatsoever then i'm not interested to discuss it at all. I'm residing in Malaysia currently, yes, but i'm not interested with all those stuff. Freedom of speech, freedom of speech, like i don't know, i've lived in the united states.

well... this is definately not bout racism issue at all and not that we really wanted to teach you bout freedom of speech that you known off and we certainly don't care even if you lived in timbuktu before. It was just the way how our society here work and so far its been a good practice to keep our country in harmony for so long. For a solid prove we just celebrated our 50th merdeka 15 days ago. Its a good way too to keep our asian culture of being friendly and respectful to each other. Yes and we do love our country...

as for the statement "ini malaysia, tak suke keluar dari sini" its just like "take it or leave it" ... its just a general statement... i sometimes say it to my friends whether they are chinese, malay, indian, mat salleh or whatever when they have too much to complaint bout certain things. sometimes ppl don't really appreciate with what they have....

so i don't see anything bout the racism issue.... it was nearly a joke to kick some fun in... stay cool dude..
