reently i meet a client, they would like to register a few .my
they do request another extra service which is "DNS hosting service"

mean some DNS record(A record, MX record, CNAME....)

I do check with some authorise reseller from mynic, their price are much different, 1 give me RM50/yr, another giv me RM100/yr (only DNS hosting service) not including domain fees yet

any one use this service before, and how much ur registrar charges you?

What does the client want to do with the DNS hosting for the domains?

my usual hosting provider charge rm50 for the dns hosting (not inclusive of hosting n domain reg fees)...
they just create a plesk admin for me to manage the dns records...

Is DNS Hosting is same as Managed DNS?

I guess it's expensive because customers may not know what they are doing and bring down their own website/email. Then they will ask support for help.

Correct me if i'm wrong but i think .com Managed DNS is free with GoDaddy.

You can also setup a Custom Domain to point to a BlogSpot blog by creating a CNAME record.

MYNIC domain does not come with DNS service.

You have to host/park your domain on a server, and manage your DNS in that server. therefore these are 3rd party services and their charges are different.

If you have shared hosting which support domain parking/add-ons, that can be done as well.

Managed DNS is cheap, which is why it is usually sold together with a domain or included as FREE.

The problem is to configure it so it depends on what they want and make sure it WORKS!!! after 1 week or so. DNS propagation takes up to 3 days.

The fee for DNS is probably for their service in configuring DNS, so it depends how much they wanna charge, like pc repairing services.

Another alternative is to get some DNS service from a company that only does DNS. I use dyndns.com for sites operating on dynamic IP addresses, but they also offer services for people on static IP addresses, like round-robin DNS, geo-located DNS. Everything costs money at dyndys.com, but not a great deal, and I've always had swift responses from knowledgeable people when I've asked support questions. I've recently started using zoneedit.com's free DNS services, and they seem to be ok too, though the service they offer is not as ... high performance as dyndns's, and I had this one funny and drawn-out support experience... you get what you pay for, I guess!

Now i realize how this service actually are.

As long you can access to WHM (Web Hosting Management Panel) which only able to access by your webhosting company. You are able to modify what ever record you need.

Simple said if you have a reseller account, you can do it all free...

Yes, the overview:
(1) Domain -> Hosting -> Your Home Server
(2) Domain -> DYNDNS -> Your Home Server

#1.. If your web host admin control panel allows you to change DNS zone, then you can host MYNIC domain on your own server and edit the DNS as you wish. Most control panel such as cpanel whm/plesk/helm/directadmin, etc has such feature.

#2.. Otherwise you can subscribe to DYNDNS service

cant imagine some web hosting company quote me very expensive price, Rm50 per domain.
