That's more like a sales trick or to be called 'promotions'. I see many more sites selling below cost price. Take note renewal for Domainsarefree is $8.99
 I don't know if you can transfer to other registrar once expired? Not mentioned in their terms but should be able to do so. Anyway, 3.99 is a good price

Domainsarefree.com only allow 1 domain a week. Its control panel sucks even sucker than hostway.
Hostway? prepare receive spam on your mailbox and conytol panel not user friendly support = 0 resellerpanel.com never ever use them before. but do you expect any good for $4.00 ev1servers.net banned 203.* ip so do malaysia ip. maybe now only choice for cheap is name.com or domainsite.com good la. 8/10

Never show your primary email address inside Domain Whois.
I used namecheap before.. but I like enom, cpanel are simple.

I think godaddy is quite good. At least they are quite reliable. Some seller price is cheap, but only cheap for 1 year then you cannot transfer to other registrar... 2nd year will become very very expensive...
