My first question:
Let say there is a well-known brand name ABC. Will cause any trademark/copyright infringement if I register a domain name call "aboutABC.com" or "ABClinks.com"?

My second question:
Will subdomain name have the same PR rate with the main domain name?

i think if you buy a domain name example ABC.....
it is not illegal.....if it is a popular name...they might even buy the domain from u for a higher price....

but this is just what i think.....

have to wait and see what others say...

if the company registered a GLOBAL trademark(example: microsoft, google, yahoo), then it may have the right to takeover your domain names.

it may depends when you register the domain and when the company is set up. if you register the domain name first, most likely you will keep the domain name. i might be wrong though.

If ABC is registered as trade mark on year 2000, they have the right to take over ABC.COM registered after year 2000. If ABC is a new company founded in 2002 and ABC.COM is already registered in year 2000, ABC company has no right into the domain anymore. This apply to all global trademark. So don't be surprised Microsoft is holding all the 'nice' names for their future products which has been a trademark since 1990's.

@gowow: Another one clear example that explains what I'm posting is Hollywood Movie title. They cannot take the domain name they want because the name is already registered before the movie name is registered as trade mark. So they use xxx-themovie.com or something similiar

Yes, ebay and google have the right to drop your domain. However, if your site has good effect like making more ppl using their service or advertise for them... In business wise, they MAY not take action on you.

We have dealt a few cases involving our customers. Ended up the lawyers on the side.. will use whatever means they have to take domain from you cause copyright infringement. (no refund)

ebay or google will be notified when their domains registered. Just wait you'll get the mail thru UPS
