if the name is not copyrighted, you can keep your name
![]() if the firm is established before you register your domain name, just sell it to them at reasonable prices as gethosted has mentioned

I register the domain since no body care, the company already exist since 2002.. but they did not buy the name. So earlier this month I bought the name since my wife become the company member. My intention is helping to promote and sell their product. But since the website grow bigger and interact more traffic, this MLM company called me and demand to get the domain. What about the case that Google had to pay to CHina for domain name google.cn? If the google is copyrighted then how come China can demand from google? From my understanding, that domain .com is free for everyone to get and hold them.. not like .com.my which need to provide proper documentation to register that domain. So, please anybody else what is your opinions? Also, what is the reasonable price? RM200? RM500? RM3000? RM25000? Can somebody give me suggestion? ![]() |

you can consult your lawyer if you need advise. everything also can put on court and if the case drag very long and if you win the case and have the domain name but you pay the lawyer will cause you a leg and an arm.
If I remember correctly, I member here register domain name related to dell and he already have notice from the dell lawyer to transfer the domain name back to dell. He also did not get back the domain fees ![]() |

you don't see what's wrong? you're selling their products on a website which uses their company/brand name as the domain name without their agreement (even though they don't own the domain). it's pretty much like.... opening a Nike store using the name "Nike" as your store's name in a country where they haven't registered the company name, it "might" be legal to do so, but honestly, don't you think it's not right? If you're selling products totally unrelated to them, it's a totally different story.
take gethosted's advice and sell it, instead of letting them take away the domain name without paying you a penny. Last edited by red@frittle; 25-12-2005 at 07:30 PM. |
