My friend has a domain which expire on 1 Mar, and he dont want to renew thru the previous registrat. So may I know how long should I wait to re-register it again.

i think it might take a few a days for domain to be open to register again by public although it expires on 1 mar.


just keep ur eyes on dats domain (whois) and quickly register it or u alos can buy a backdoor register but it quite high than a normal.

Code78: If it is a popular domain it might get snaped by other before you're able to reregister. You may lost forever. The cost to get it back will be very high and depend the current owner want sell or not but if you got trademark then it still got chances to get it back with little fees or "no" fees.
A domain need to go through a few process before been deleted so think about the traffic and the brand name you may lost during this time. So balance it yourself.

hyperchatterz: not backdoor register It is backordering. Company offer registeration service at the seconds the domain become available at at registry. We can't have time to online 24/7 a day to check right?

the status of this domain now is : Expired. But I still can see WebCC copyright bla bla text with it whois record. So I guess I still have to wait.

it sometime take more thatn 120 days.

I think he may have left it too late. Normally he will request a transfer of the domain name to a new registrar, and pay the cost of a one year renewal to the registrar. This will result in a 1 year extension (so overall he does not suffer) and the domain is cleanly and directly transferred.
