Hi there, welcome to the forum.

It's Eternal solution, not external

Anyway, they are a hosting company (not domain registrar). And I do not recommend from buying domain name from a hosting company. Less control, and probably has some other restriction.

I used Godaddy before. Around USD$7 or 8. But the interface is really bad, and they are always push you to buy something to earn more money. Which, I really hate.

Around 1 and half years ago, I found namecheap. And, I have been with them ever since. With coupon "BESTVALUE", it is only USD$7.99 for one domain name. The interface is the best I everseen. And you have the option to list your domains for sales instantly in the marketplace by few buttons. I have around 20+ domains with them.

1. The hosting company might go bust (don't say it can't happen, I have seen it happen over and over again). And once it did, your domain name is gone with them too (because you only can renew the domain name with them)

2. For some, you need to go thru the hosting company for changes, such as, registering private name servers, or unlocking the domain name.

Seems like I become namecheap spokes person already

Namecheap do not provide hosting, it specialize in domain registration services. Hosting company has larger stake, and a lot of hosting company in malaysia is a one-man-show company, easily go bust overnight.

When you bought the domain name, you will be provided an interface to mange your domain name, and you can notice the WHOIS information will be all under your name (especially administrative contact details).

You need to transfer your domain if you wish to renew with other party.

Lim, just an update to your earlier post #2. The code has expired. I paid $8.88 last night for a new .com

I'm still looking for a new coupon code.

Scary. I just registered 2 domain names using that coupon code 2 days ago.

Anyway, I'm still sticking with namecheap.

Those who wants lower price can try http://www.domainsite.com

I never had any experience with Yahoo. I checked out their homepage just now and could not see any $2.99 offers, I only see $9.95.

But feel free to try it, no harm

Yahoo charged $9 for WHOIS privacy services while this comes free for Namecheap for the first year.
