Erm... top? - 05-05-2008, 05:01 PM

Surprised this thread is empty. Maybe all the entries automatically counted as spam.

Don't know about the top webshops, Lolyco.com has some complimentary customers, but hasn't paid for a cup of teh tarik yet, so it must be near the bottom! Unless there are a lot of malaysian online shops 'working for charity'.

I'm not suggesting someone should start a thread for Malaysia's bottom web shops, just in case...

I thought Malaysia Online Personalised Gift Store - Unique Gifts for the Special One - Birthday, Anniversary, Wedding etc was pretty good.

Talking Why buy from Malaysia - 07-05-2008, 09:02 AM

Funny you should ask that. Funny=odd, I mean. For successful e-commerce, all you should need is a working Internet connection, liberal banking system, an economy unencumbered by protective trading practices, efficient / reliable postal service and a low cost of living.

One out of five ain't bad at least we've got mamak stalls

Back to the topic... I was going to suggest a few more sites, but after ping/whois each of them, realise only one of them is physically in malaysia. I always think Condom Malaysia Store, buy condom online KL kondom - sekondom.com is a great example of a simple e-commerce site, nice clear design, and all the info you could need.

Not keen on the spammy title tag though...

Here's one with a relively small range at the moment, but great potential in honest opinion if they would be able to extend their range; Orient-Shopping.com - Online shopping in Malaysia. They sell to Malaysian abroad. It is based in Malaysia.

Very difficult to find Malaysia online shops, there are really very few shopping Malaysian based sites out there, ...or better, there are few initiatives outside those backed by larger companies (search engines, internet providers, ...) which have ample money to spend on megastores selling all kind of everything nobody really needs.

Are you refering to Orient-Shopping.com - Online shopping in Malaysia There's nothing mentioned about return/refunds policy... ...obviously this shop deals in eatable goods that can expire... not a watch or an electronic device for example. You claim no customer service, they do have a contact form and a custom order form, did you contact them to find out wether you got a reply or not???

Also, I have to mention that your comment "how to compete with amazon.com" also doesn't really strike me as fair. This is a small indertaking, obviously a work in progress. Given the fact that any Malaysian based initiative should be supported in order for it to grow, I would cut it some slack. Besides, when comparing to amazon.com, most shops will be way behind! It is what I said in my urlier message, there are very few initiatives besides those backed by larger companies. amazon.com is a multi-million/billion dollar enterprise, there's no comparing for 99.9% of the online shops.

The idea here in this thread is not t
