Anyone experienced in ecommerce website development help me answer me the following questions please.

1. what is your job scope? (design/programming/hosting/SEO/maintenance)
2. usually how much u charge for an ecommerce website? (local or oversea?)
3. what must be take into account to price a website? (deadline, job scope etc)
4. how long do u usually spend to complete an ecommerce website?
5. one man show or with partner/team?
6. does a contract required?
7. you develop the script yourself or use open source ecommerce solution (ie zen cart, oscommerce)? why?

All - customer don't like to deal with so many party for a website.

Around 2-5K depends on the complexity of the products and/or extra calculation needed...

Amount of time required to code a new scripts / time taken to customize an existing one. Time also taken in consideration, like if urgent basis, you need more manpower and mapower = more money.

very subjective and depends on ur manpower... but the usual timeframe is about 1 to 2 mth max.

i do it 1 man show... donno about the rest...

optional... as payment a scheduled via stages like 50% deposit, 30% test-run, 10% live run, 10% after 3 mth warranty.

depends on the nature of product of the customer... sometime if it straight forward product... then u can use those standard one... if its non standard product... then you maybe need recode / enhance on it....
like i done one that selling contact lenses that allow the buyer to select type, color, power, left/right eye, diameter and base curve... this one no choice but to code it on my own.


bottom line... the costing are mainly based on manpower basis and how much you wanted to earn...so its really very subjective....

industry standard retail shop cart (like neovawe n netbuilder) is usually priced between RM2k++ - RM5k++....
