oh, sorry about that.
Actually, that is not my fault. Honest. Somehow Bluehyppo automatically add a few Javascript for the ads on top of the HTML codes making my site invalid. I couldn't do anything about it, unless I uh..hack their server. I tried to email the Bluehyppo staffs but to no avail. That's why I've been finding other good web host to kick out Bluehyppo. Then, how about yours? http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...doctype=Inline

even www.yahoo.com and www.microsoft.com return this :
Fatal Error: no document type declaration; will parse without validation .. so is that really important?.. ![]() ![]() |

Microsoft has been an ignorant company. They don't care. Their MSDN site cannot work in IE/Mac because the fonts is too small. Their Internet Explorer 6 browser got a parsing standards mode bug. They never do anything related to web standards, making their browser still a bad browser. Lucky that we have Mozilla
![]() Yahoo is a big site. Some web design experts don't know why those yahoo designers don't want to focus on web standards. Since their site is always being visited by people yet requires lots of bandwidth (and money), they can really free up the load by using simple CSS and take out all those <font> and <td> tags which are quite outdated already. CSS is bandwidth-friendly, therefore saves their pocket. So, better ask them why.. Actually the document type declaration is made somesort of filtering out old standards and latest web standards. Browsers nowadays (IE6/Win, IE5/Mac, Mozilla 1.x, Opera 5.x, Chimera, Kmeleon, etc) have two modes: quirks mode and standards mode. In the quirks mode, browsers will tend render a page in the old ways, with all the parsing bugs and invalid ways, which is being nice to old sites which are still loyal to HTML 2.0 or HTML 3.2. This mode can be triggered by not putting any <!DOCTYPE> on top of the <html>. In the standards mode, rendering got more standardized, for HTML 4.01 and also XHTML 1.x. Standards mode is when a certain element on the page should display as being specified by W3C. This mode can be triggered by putting for example: Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"> Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> To me, it's important. it's the web standards ![]()
