i was just wondering... wat it really takes to become member of the month...

will it be...
1. just the no. of post count?
Does no of post really counts irregardless of the quality/relevancy of thread post or reply to a certain post.
Eg. can just simply post answer or post a new thread that contribute nothing to this forum just to make that post counter ticking?

2. Does good quality new thread created to entice other members to reply further that counts?

3. Does the rep power counts as a measuring tools to determine it??


well... i just curious here.... maybe you guys could give some more input here...

Ok, here's where I step in.

Member of the month are determined on:
- Number of posts made per day (active)
- Number of new threads created (to stir discussion)
- A few other factors, from friendliness to helpfulness matters too.

You just need to imagine that you are the forum, and how do you want your members to behave?

Yup, that's the member of the month. Anyway, it's been harder and harder to choose as many members for the past and this month fulfilled all these criterias.

May be we should shortlist some active members, and let the community decide (poll) who deserved the honor for this month?

Agree with yipguseng. Polling is not the final deterministic factor.

limcs behind the scene still has the ultimate veto to determine the final result as he can analyse/crunch the data easily into useful information from the database, visible to members. Further, he is pretty experienced.

limcs plays a role as a fair judge/neutral medium.

wow... been out of this forum for 2 days and got so many reply lioa...
limcs... poll was a good idea ... however there some logistic need to be implemented... i have some ideas below...

1. the voter can view a list of thread created or replied by a certain candidate(eg. click on a candidate name and it will list out all the thread participated in a certain period.)... i'm not sure whether this forum can support it. This is good as voter can do some evaluation before casting the vote.

2. Set a period for the voting process like 1 or 2 weeks so all members can participate or published in the newsletter.

3. to avoid bogus voter (vote them self) i think each member can only cast 1 vote.

4. voter must be registered member whom registered before the voting start date as set in 2. or only a member with a certain post count can cast vote.

eem... that just my 0.5cents of ideas... hope that won't be too much of work for u limcs... anyway... we all support all your decisions all the way .....
