Just like the title says, I need a domain to host Google Apps on. I figure that getting the domain registered is one thing, but according to the Google Apps video, I need a host that I can get the CNAMEs from, although, frankly, I'm not sure which hosts would allow that, or what I do ONCE I get them.
So far, we've kept our operations at the METC to intranet-only mode, but the boss's interested in expanding things a bit, hence the idea of using Google Apps instead of our current Moodle set-up.
Does anyone have any ideas / 2 cents / etc with regards to this? I'd appreciate any information you guys have on this whole thing. Personally, I'm half-thinking about sticking with Moodle and getting ourselves a domain and some decent hosting, but I'm still quite a rookie to this whole thing.
to use google apps, all you need to change is the MX records. if you already have a hosting provider, ask them to change it to the one google apps provided after you have registered. most of them can do it for you. if they say the cant, then you're shoudnt be using their service at all!
I'd suppose most web hosting company are 'allergic' to Google Apps. Mainly because:
1) Google Apps provide web hosting for an attractive price - ops, I mean FREE.
2) Google Apps comes with all of the applications that are vastly superior than those with traditional web hosting. Think of something like Gmail vs SquirrelMail..hmmmm
3) Google Apps will be the ultimate hosting industry killer.
