free hosting for business site? - 28-01-2007, 06:21 PM

Just wonder will you host your business website over free host (either with or without ads)?

Not a chance. Business sites need solid business contracts behind them. That means I need to be able to sue you if anything goes wrong through your negligence and it costs me money. Try going to court with a 'free hosting' contract... and listen to the laughter.

If you are running a business, and you want to have a business website to promote your products and services, then you should allocate some funds for doing so.

Hosting costs money. Sure there are free hosting with revenue coming from ads. There may even be free hosting without ads. But it still cost money to the person running the hosting. Some may be doing as a hobby or for fun. What if they decide to stop? Do you want your business to be without a reachable website after you have promoted it? Do you want your business website to be down as it may cost money for the hoster to get it up again and can't do so due to lack of funds.

When you get your website from a company running a hosting business, then at least you have more confidence that they are doing so as a business and to earn a profit. Thus they will make every effort to provide you good service as their own business depends on it. IOW, there is some sort of accountability.

Too many people these days want things for free or very very cheap. Then they expect to get the moon for it. Then they complain when it does not work out. Then they bad mouth he other party. All this while, they conveniently forget that they were the cheapskate to begin with and they deserve what they get for what they pay. It seems that quality is not given much importance anymore. Everyone is just looking for cheap or free things.

I would not host my business website on a free hosting plan.

Yeah, if you are seriously into doing business, it should be a paid hosting. free hosting usually don't provide immediate support in case your site has any problem and require immediate action.
afterall, hosting are cheap nowdays

Well, there may be some beginner who are using a free host to set up their business module.
but eventually they will realise the free hosting will not be able to cope up with their needs.
downtime, support and server speed is the main issue with free host. they normally loaded with thousands of websites in one server and will always lag (eventually when more websites loaded into the server)
and if your customer complaint to you about your host, you have no one to complaint to... what, you want to complaint about something FREE sumore?

I was using a free host when I started my online games site. it was a good start then until I get numerous complaints about server lag and downtime. I immediately switched to a paid hosting instead and everybody is happy.

well, there are still new entrepreneur who wish to start a business out of zero cost. free hosting is only good for non serious user. strightly not for business

pay hosting - 11-03-2008, 12:54 PM

my case are diffrently in such manner, my own friend of mine is promoting herself to build up my small company to be in the websites, no ads and I need to pay for RM 300 for 1 year, after 2 weeks, I haven't seen any of his work and ask him for the job required to be immediately done,

bad stuation,

he also lying to me, her parents, fiancee that he are own capable instead jobless, unused character. Not more than 300, is a payment for car instalment that he purchased for lying me. Do we have to trust paid hosting if we found this kind person eventhogh is legal.
