AI viewer
hey guys, any of u all know any software which can view AI file without having to open the Illustrator program?
currently i m using irfanview, works pretty well for me but the only thing that's missing is it's unable to view AI file

AI is really a proprietary format. Just like Audocad, no software can use their format unless they pay some 'fees' to adobe.
Anyway, check free ai viewer adobe download

illustrator has remove the thumbnail features since cs series...
but you can try get it back - view thumbnail for .ai files in windows... -> google keyword : Thumbnails in Explorer Window for AI
