Hi...
need to know is Png file...made in macromedia fireworks.... vector or raster?

some people say it is vector.....some say no....

so i need to know.......

PNG has capable to save vector drawing.

However if pixel graphics are saved into PNG (for eg. JPG > PNG), it is not a vector.

i see..... so that means ...if i design
original works in fireworks...and save it
as png....so it is vector?

Yes ckita. That's right. Fireworks save images as PNG

Some other software such as paint shop pro allows you to save normal pixels as PNG as well but it's not vector.

You can try it out by importing PNG into Illustrator or Corel Draw.

yeah...u r right....
the only prob is
whatever effect applied to anything
i do in fireworks...when exported ...will not
turn out the same way....

i tried to create a basic shape...with some effects...drop shadow....opacity...etc....

and i xported it to illustrator...
sadly it was horrible....
only the basic shape came out......
the effect did not....

so looks like i need to brush up on my illustrator skill lol

btw...fireworks cannot xport to corel draw...
but corel can open .ai File

but corel draw can import PNG & EPS vector file.

Vector is not pixels, they basically don't support things like shadows, transparency and so on. You will know what I mean if you convert it into PDF.

PDF writes text as curves and lines as vector curves. Pixels will be compressed and shadows are considered as pixels, not curves. same for transparency.

I've been working a lot with corel draw. I like it more than illustrator

yeah i dabble a bit in illustrator....
but now trying corel...
i too prefer corel....
it is fantastic color selection
and is lightweight & faster to load
than illustrator...

for corel tutorials?

yep...easier....
but ...i see so many fanatstic logo's on the net
that are vector.....
they seem to have gradients...drop shadow...etc...

how is that possible...?

Not a problem with corel draw. Use the gradient color.
