how do we find out the budget of the clients? They're more likely to underquote then give the exact budget they have.

Basically, the charges are depending on the number of design concepts produced by the designer rather than the complexity of design.

A complex logo doesn't mean it is a logo and otherwise for a simple logo. It's all about branding and it does not necessarily mean that simple logos does not worth much compared to a complex logo.

Further, the beauty of a logo is a very subjective topic to be discussed about. So it all depends on the creative thinking of the designer, whether or not he is able to produce something that symbolizes your company or usually the creative manipulation of the initials.

many people asked about the logo creations pricing...
because its doesn't have any price limit or rate in creativity so its depends on some criteria...

some design probably too simple to be charge expensive for some customers (and this might effects for future project they might give us)...
and some are maybe too cheap with lot of time consume and variety of design they might need to see...

so how... to me make it simple... calculate the time used for the job with your per hour rate... that is the minimum price to start with (maybe)...

tips: know your customer... is the logo for 'Nasi Lemak Aunties Enterprise' or 'PetroMas Bhd'... then u got some idea

Designing a logo not consider a simple task but at the same time time not too difficult as imagined by many ppl...

It is require ur design skill to do that..most of the design comes from creativity..u may have self learning and then try improve it from time to time...u may refer to other people design template to do it better if u lack of any idea sometimes...

1st, u must familiar with he software..this is the important step for beginner..

i have used several design software b4...macromedia fireworks, freehand, adobe photoshop...and so on...i found that each software got each own good...

designing logo is a great hobby... i personally like to design logo, even nobody requested them.. hehehe... sumetimes it takes practice, n research to came up with a good logo design..

for me, the criteria of a good logo are divided as follows;

a) Typo -- If a logo include typography, than it must be parallel with the overall design n concept.. avoid hard to read font.
b) Color -- Choose less than 3 colors, 4 is okey, but do avoid.. if u dont know how to select the color, ask ur clients, do they have any preferred color, or corporate color?.. make sure that the color are easily adaptable, think about how the logo will be use.. some colors look great on white background, but its not always look good on black/dark bg... so plan ur color wisely.. u can go to colourlover.com for inspiration.. if possible, present ur logo mockup with black&white color as well.. sometimes, logo doesnt look good when photostated or printed in B&W
c) Strength -- a logo must be strong, bold, and precisely defined what it resembles.. try to use elements that closely relate to the function of a logo.. if it is for a gardening company, try to use flower, leave or etc.. u get what i mean right..
d) Composition -- if ur logo comprises of typo n image, make sure to align them the best way. present ur client with multiple positioning example, so they have more choices.
e) Creativity -- lastly, a logo must be creative, unique... this may be the hardest part.. but if u practice alot n do some research... u will get better.. hehehe...


The most important thing is that u have to follow what the customer wants.. sometimes they will choice the worst logo.. but u cannot force them to go for the one that they dont likes, even if it looks great.. always discuss wif ur customer n always be prepare.. hehehe ..
