Thread: Streamyx slow international routing

Could people post their results for the following command.

ping mzima.net

I am getting an average of approx 800ms for the past couple of days. It used to be approx 300ms previously. I have noticed that TM has changed the international routing link (at least from my Streamyx connection) which is causing the slow connection and packet losses.

I have made a complaint to TM but want to get more info here.

depends on which IP address u get..
most IP have slow route to US..
if u r on dynamic IP.. just reconnect ur connection and test different IP..works for me..
if u r on static.. not sure how to help.. maybe call streamyx and complain..

I have already tried different dynamic IPs. I think the problem seems to be with the international routing being used. And the reason I am using mzima.net as a test is because I find the link to that bandwidth provider is slow due to the specific route taken. At the same time, connections to other sites in US is ok as they seem to be taking the "normal" routes as before.

I would still like some ping times to make comparisons. I have already called Streamyx to complain and they said to send an email with results to custcare. I have done that, but no reply yet.

sekondom, do you mind posting your ping result? And if possible a trace route as well.

oh my god! i really hate streamyx..my line is always make me sick..when streamyx want to improve their services?

I got average 606ms.
Streamyx 512k.
TM only care speed on local, Malaysia.

Thanks AyerHitam for the info. As I said, it used to be in the 280-300ms range. Until TM changed the routing which now makes it worse at certain times of the day.
