Investment & Retirement Planning

Market research has shown that EPF savings might not be enough for our retirement. Thus we need to let our savings work hard for more passive income. Diversify into property, shares, unit trusts and other financial instrument as early possible as compounding effect works wonder.. i.e. RM1 earn 10% interest = RM1.1 which earn further 10% = RM1.21..

Also point to note is the growing inflation rate. We need to invest in instrument that beat the current inflation rate of 4%..

To invest or to save?

Before one starts to invest in any instruments it would be wise to implement good personal financial management first to reduce interest on loans, etc. No point in going for high-risk investments while still paying high interest on loans or without a care in the world to reduce unnecessary spending.

yes..we must hav investment tactic oso...

when comes to investing, the most important question is not how much the return is or how much the risk is but how much money can u afford to lose?

i'm not being negative here, tis is a v down-to-earth question. It hurts me to hear about ppl who took out a second mortgage on their home to buy a hot-tip stock only to lose all of it. Sure, if u did this and it all works out, you'll be a very rich man but what if it doesn't? You will not only put your life in poverty, but also your family's. Think about ur children or grandchildren who will have to pay ur debt if u can't pay it off when u are alive. Tis is not called investing, it's called betting ur life. Don't ever, ever kid urself that u will never lose money.

yes, you are right, those have business talent , if they have 100K on hand , they will build a business and growth 10 or even 100 times.

but if for those no business talent, imagine you bring him/her to the middle of ocean and dump the 100K into the sea.
