For me, it is better to save in % saved instead of the amount that you saved. Actually I don’t force myself to prepare like 50% or 60% of my salary for savings, but I seldom buy stuffs so my savings is just after minus daily expenditure. But I tend to save more in order to get a decent house. Hope this year-end got big adjustment.

Seriously I do agree, save money is just a conventional way, it will make you become more suffer is you try to save more. I am also a saver, one of my friend ask me "how much can i make from save"?

expenses usually rise with income... so no matter much you extra you can earn ... u always find extra ways to spend it...

saving is a good habit especially you are planning for the future.....

And that is exactly what we should all do - improve on our knowledge and skills with the hope of being o earn more income. But too many people just look for ways to earn more without improving themselves. This could be job hopping to increase salary, looking for fast making schemes etc etc. These do not last in the long run.

One must know how much money you need in a year, then you will know your income is enough to cover your living cost or not. If its short, then how to save leh.

Expenses including daily food, travelling, house, entertainment, car installment, road tax, life insurance, car insurance, New Year spending, holiday, gift, etc etc..

pheww... long list..

A lot of expenses are yearly basis such as life insurance, car insurance, gift, new year spending. All those must include or buffer. From there you will know your actual expenses.

If not enough to cover then earn more and cost down unnecessary spending lor.

Just my personal opinion.
