Hello,

The thing is louiss ... you better make it faster. The latest tax submition for self-employed is 30 June (if I not mistaken). If you missed it you have to pay fine. 10% of your tax payable.

How long you already go venture in blogging business ? Better declare ALL years of income. Why ?

Let say the LHDN people pinpoint you and start the investigation. The calculate you CURRENT year blogging income. Let say RM 50,000 yearly. Then they just multiply it with UNDELCARED years of your income.

By the way, do not try to cheat them. All of Tax Investigation are top people their starting payment is RM 3800. To join the team you must have EXTENSIVE general knowledge + few specialise knowledge which Govt tested during interview.

So ... please be honest in declaring, please do not think that they DO NOT know about blogging

Thank you,

but how they going to trace? earning over internet have no record, except they check your bank account on the incoming money over the world.

I do heard before those investigator will sit in front of the "char koey teow" shop, daily, count how many plate they sell, and count how many egg they use. after monitor a week, they will assume they pass few year you are having the same income as they monitor, No excuse even your business are not good or make loss in the pass few year.

Oh yeah, they can trace. Your AdSense comes in checques or Western Union, either way it goes through banks. And when it go through banks you know gov can have their hands on it. Even paypal, you'll still need to deposit them back to your bank accout (unless you spend them all online)

@iamfreelancer That depends on how you *bring them back :-)

Unless you don't buy any expensive asset your whole life. Else 10, 20 or 30 years back, they still ask you to pay back. With money but cannot spend happily, why so pitty?

The moment you buy something, it trigger the alarm. I asked the bank how gov will know, the bank said it's easy, they don't need to investigate you, the moment you buy an asset (car, house, land etc), you need to pay "stamp duty". From that amount of the "stamp duty", it's already told them how much you pay for the asset. With that, just check your income tax profile. Bingo! Never pay tax before but can buy a VIOS.

The next step they do is asked you to "drink kopi". Just like my previous post mentioned, they don't need to investigate you in details. They practise "China's law". Once they open a file for you means you have to prove yourself innocent to them. Tell me why you can buy a VIOS? Then you have provide all evidents to them. Bank statement, EA form, Payslip etc. If you can't justify, then too bad. Like my friend said, I tell them it's inherited from my Grandpa cannot ah? Of course can, you have to provide evident (Lawyer documents etc). If cannot prove, too bad again.

Remember, they don't need to collect evident to charge you, it's you to provide evident to prove yourself innocent. Most Malaysia doesn't realize this.

Yes unless you blog or work all the time OUTSIDE of Malaysia. No just host your site outside but you physically outside of Malaysia. I check with incometax dept before how they categorized those internet affiliate or income from abroad. The answer is very simple. Ask yourself where you work to generate this income? Blog at home in Malaysia? Online in Malaysia? Then this is the "Action in Malaysia to generate Profit", so you MUST pay tax.
