hi and welcome to the forum.

first, how bout typing 'adsl-setup' (root) and see what happen. if you have adsl-setup, then all you have to do is follow this simple step which i copy from the source i don't remember

Log in as root Go to a console.

    Type 'adsl-setup'

It will do some system checks.

The next question will be for your user name. Type UserID@streamyx Hit 'enter'.

Next it will ask for the interface i.e. your NIC that you are using. Most likely 'eth0'. Unix starts with zero when it comes to assigning device numbers. eth0 is default, so just hit enter.

Next it will ask about 'Demand or Continuously'. Default is 'No'. Hit Enter.

Now it will ask you for your DNS's one at a time.
Type '202.188.1.5' for #1. Hit Enter.
Type '202.188.0.133' for #2. Hit Enter.

Next will be your UserID password.
Type it, hit enter, type it again to confirm, hit enter.

Next will be for firewalling. Press the number zero. Remember when you installed Red Hat, it asked you for high, medium, or low firewall. The firewall in the installation will be good enough. I had some trouble getting numbers 1 and 2 to work correctly in this selection. Maybe just me being a Linux newbie, but zero worked for me.

'Start connection at boot time?' Enter 'yes'.

Now it will show a summary of what you did and will ask you if you want to 'Accept these settings?' Enter 'y' for yes, hit 'Enter'

Next, type 'adsl-start' at the command line.

Now you should be online. Congrats.

However if you don't have a router, and want to use your DSL with Linux then a good PPPoE client for Linux is Roaring Penguin
    good luck!

the best way to find more information about them is by using our beloved KazAA or Imesh search for documents. i have few jsp ebook in pdf format downloaded from p2p. never search for postgresql before, but i think there won't be any problem connecting to the database from jsp.

how about clicking ur mouse here : http://forums.devshed.com/f9/s.html

I really appreaciate ur attention. Before I came here, I E-mail TMnet & Aztech for help & they never reply till now.
    lemme tell u my story.

once, i 'accidently' reset my modem (aztech 350e) and my connection goes kaput. so the next morning i call the technical support. after successfully waiting for about four day and a half (this is only a comical time, the real time is about three days), they answered my call just to make me wait for about another century listening to their so-called "waiting-theme" music, which is so annoying. then, just before i decided to commit suicide, a guy answered my call and offer help. i told him what i did, and he keep telling me to check whether my network connection is OK or not. so i tell him that IT IS ok because i can play game and stuffs, and then he ask me to crawl to the back of my desk, and MAKE SURE that lan l.e.d is ON! and you know what? I did! i don't know why, maybe the annoying music i heard before is powerfull enough to kill some of my reasoning-cells. i told him that YES, there is nothing wrong with the led. then he said that he will log a report and start asking for my particulars such as my name, address, gender, etc. then he said that their technical support will come to my house to check the connection. he said "very soon" when i asked him when.

to tell u the truth, when telekom said "very soon", it means that the thing will happen in the future - when there is nobody at home! and that "very-soon" is 4 days after he log the report. of course i don't believe him when he said very soon. so i burn my modem and join Taliban.

just kidding . i called the guy who installed the modem and he guide me step by step to reconfigure the modem. now, that what i call 'very-soon'!

2nd, my modem goes kaput again after failing to manage the heavy traffic of us downloading porn.. err.. i mean, some stuff from the internet. anyway, i call technical support, again, and they logged a report, again. she said one of their technician will come to my house to check it. i ask her when, and she said, confidently, in 24hours. so i told her that the guy from telekom will never call to tell me when they will come. and again, with confident, she reassure me that they will call. i ask her that i wont be at home when they come and ask her again whether they will call or not. she said, this time a bit angry - but with confident, that if i am not at home, then they will call my handphone. i said 'Good, do you have my handphone number?'. she said 'NO'.....

this is what u get when you are dealing with telekom. they will try their best to avoid you at all cost. so, tell me, where is the logic that they will entertain our email, when they openly try to avoid us while on telephone?

Ding Dong>> What a great.. great experience u have there... thks 4 sharing.. but Finally I got a reply from Aztech.. TM net till now oso no news what so ever..
I also have a very funny experience with TNB... They send a letter to my uncle mantion bout the electric meter problem.. The meter can't measure correctly. My Uncle monthly bill only RM8-12.. & my uncle have 5 air-con at home, & 5 of them never rest at night..
Seem that I'm the only 1 quite free during weekday.. So I make appointment with them to change the meter, but the funny things is they never show up.. I have made 2 appointment with them & call them all the day.. In the end, I'm giving up.. Who care bout the problem.. my uncle r not the 1 who have lose in this situation.. the case is almost 6 month ago.. & the monthly electric bill max RM18.. I wish my TNB meter also face the same problem..

I have almost the same experience as DingDang ...

We are very excited when Streamyx is available in our office building, I quickly called up TMnet and apply for a 1Mbps ...

After 6 weeks, finally they come to install my Streamyx ... yeh ... we are the first company who use their Streamyx in the building.

The first 3 days, everything works fine and speed is good. However, speed drops significantly start from the forth day... everything becomes very slow ... slower than 56K dialup most of the time when accessing International lines.

Called them up again, dialed 1300-88-9515, before someone answered your call, you have to listen to the song and wait for 10-15 minutes. The most annoying part is sometimes after waiting for 10-15 minutes, the answering machine will say "All staffs are temporary not available, please call back later" ...

If you are lucky, someone will answer your call and send a technician in the next day, however that will not help since most of the time the slowness are due to congestion on TMnet's internet backbones and not our LAN settings problem (we do hosting, we know how to configure our LAN). LOL

Recently Streamyx speed is back to normal now in my office building. Thumbs up for Streamyx.

Streamyx is still very cost effective solution for internet surffers.

When we are using 56k dialup, our phone bill is RM 1300+ per month. Now we only pay RM588.00/month fixed for Internet.

i agree with ksstudio, streamyx is very cost effective!

when i was using dial-up, i have to budget my time. i have to plan which site to visit, what info to collect, grab it as fast as i can (save it, teleport it, u got the idea), and disconnect. but with streamyx, i can connect whenever i want, and as long as i want. sometimes it sucks, sometimes great. and i have to admit that not every country in the world have access to broadband connections, and not everybody in this country have access to it too. so, beside their ***** customer support, they cool.
