More information here: Maxis - Personal - Maxis Broadband

I'm eager to give it a try, but too bad the coverage area are very limited for the time being.

if is better then streamyx connection i would really consider it...RM100 + 18(modem rental), monthly = RM118

1st time activation and installation i think need to pay an amount of money also right?

OMG! then where's life if without all those functions?

but anyway, they have reasons to do those kinda limitation..this way they can ensure high speed connection without having those functions suck up all the bandwidth..

hmm, but seriously, if a normal ppl using for browsing/surfing, uploading, streaming(or mayb also 1 of the limited maxis bb function) minor video, minor direct downloading, 1M is definately more then enuff....so if is 2M just for plainly doin normal web browsing i think really is too much.

Yet another firm thinks that broadband means fast access for narrowband use. It doesn't - the 'broad' part of the word refers to the transfer of a broad datastream, i.e. high Mb/s with consistancy. It is designed not for using Google and Yahoo, but for streaming television, VoIP, video conferencing and the distribution of large files.

The very idea that those who "the Service to download or upload extremely high data" are to be terminated is entirely the opposite of what broadband is about. Maxis should be providing a 96k connection with a low latency - fast narrowband - not a 1M connection with high latency.

Why do I mention latency? Latency is the time it takes between you asking for something and the internet service responding with it. It's the time between pressing 'search' at google.com and the results starting to arrive. Mobile-based internet is generally high latency due both to the fact that it needs extra encoding, transmission and decoding, and to the fact that the signal is broadcast to all 3G devices in the area, and they have to figure out which one is for them. Latency is what makes the internet feel fast or slow when you are browsing - not bandwidth.

So, if you want to use broadband for what it is designed for, forget about Maxis - they will just suspend your account, continue billing you, and probably not even tell you why. Finally, they will terminate your account, and you will have to pay all the line rental up until the end of the minimum contract period! Those are their terms and conditions.

If, on the other hand, you want to browse the internet quickly, and you don't do much in the way of broadband activities, forget about Maxis - they are likely to be a higher latency than wired internet connections, bandwidth will not help you much at all here. Better to get two dialup lines through different providers and combine them to get a 96k redundant best-route low-latency connection.

    hi guys..
i am here to bring u some experience of mine about this..
i have install this device alrealy, the speed is not bad, i check the speed at jaring website, on the bandwidth test, i get around 300kbps, surfing internet is fast, but....

i have tested in my working area, underground will be bad, the connection mode is GPRS only, i tested the speed, is 40++ kbps..compare with dail up still slow... even my office, located at lobby also GPRS Mode connection...

if insite building will not get good connection...there was no point for webmaster to sign up..cos the only advantage for us is able to bring along any where, such as doing presantation for our client in any building!

let me tested for 1 month..after that will let u all know the result...
