Apple Leopard Vs Windows Vista

Apple shipped the OS update Leopard last week. most ppl said that the upgrade of the Mac was very simple and the new features and UI improvements are worth the money for Leopard.Ppl said that Leopard scored a bit better in that comparison.

I consider myself an early adopter but I still havn't upgraded my Windows PCs to Vista. It is just too big of a step and there are still too many questions for me on potential hardware, driver, and software issues.

With Leopard, you just pop in the disc and you do not have to think about hardware or driver issues, if your Mac is not too old. There are no negatives and much positives which makes upgrading more easy.

Myself just jumped on Vista a little over a month now... it's just plain annoying will all the security confirmation popups, constant stalling of everything, sluggishness and various changes that increases the steps to get simple things done that you're familiar with for years with XP. For most people from XP world, I must say it's an upgrade nightmare!

Found a few good features though, particularly on file copy feature - can replace, duplicate or skip with option to automate for all files involved.

the rest like flip3d, preview for tabs & alt-tabs are just gimmicks, good enough just for show -- not that critically helpful.

macs look way better, but a macbook pro cost twice that my vista notebook. plus, macs don't do tablet/touchscreen and fingerprint yet -- so in this aspect, vista wins. windows media server also seems more comprehensive than macos frontrow, but everything windows are bloated and sluggish.

well, apple came up with innovative iphone. perhaps, they'll soon come up with table macs... but apple is killing non-US fans. I need iphone now, not next year!! (I know illegal ones are available, but i'd rather not going to pay double for the same thing that doesn't do 3G)

1 of the things that Windows is always criticized for is the lack of security features. Windows XP and Vista do come with free firewalls, and Vista has the new User Account Control (UAC), but people still expect it to do more.

Mac’s, on the other hand, you will hear little about Mac viruses. Because Mac’s are virtually virus free doesn’t mean that you are completely secure. And Leopard firewall is disabled by default.

er.. actually I love Vista alto now I am runnin XP after an annoyin error occured on da Vista OS.. anyway Vista serve me pretty well & I might install it again later, UAC feature can b turn off so no big deal, I enabled all eye candy features & it stil run smoothly on my Athlon wv 1G ram and I develop alot on web services wv IIS, SQL Server, Visual Studio, Adobe products, Video editin, Games, .. all runnin fine, some ppl might complaint Vista is memory hog but actually it just dump alot into Ur RAM, but tats how Ur RAMs work rite.. so I think its OK cos it manage da memory well, wen Im in development environment my system always goin up to 80%+ memory level contantly, usually my Winamp wil taken alot of my cpu resources ..but watever le I stil LOVE it for my MP3s uhuh, for Mac I think I wont hv chance to use it

but for my personal opinion...i thnk that vista got lots of problem n drawback behind..i felt that improved security could be a drawback of Vista. Security, an area in which Microsoft has been widely criticized.

But on the other hands, Vista has made a lot of advancements include secure access with user account control, smart card deployment and encryption features.

The Vista OS User Account control allows individual users some administrative privileges, while still protecting the system from malware, unauthorized software and unapproved system changes..

i seriously have no problem with Vista...
the only flaw is the low performance. I mean come on an OS should be efficient. Even if i disabled aero and all the effects.. The RAM consumption is super duper high..
so Vista still needs some time..
in time the hardware price will drop
in time service pack will fix all these flaws
but it is really hard to see Vista displacing all XP's computer...

i think offline service pack is like a full installer to totally patch your Windows..
online service pack is like you dl a small exe file, then you open it and it will connect to the internet and update your windows...i think

Mayb U guys shld goto autopatcher.com to understand more

U know avtime U installed a clean OS U'll need2 download updates from update.microsoft.com for critical patches or Addons, sometimes U need 1-2 hours2 download & install, it was like about 200MB for tat wv out optional addons, overall is more than 300MB.. almos da same for XP & Vista

so better just download a full package & standby for future use, autopatcher has stop updatin his application after month of August so I hv2 find an alternative way for tat
