How to build huge online community?

I like online community build from wealthy affiliate university.Anyone can answer how and the step to build up huge online community?

I like this topic.

I am not master in creating a huge online community.
But i'm trying and putting effort in this.

During my college time, i create a Chinese forum www[.]tropical-central[.]org/forums

At that time, most of the members is referral by friend. In the started, you need to follow-up and pay concern to your members. To gain the loyalty.

After 6 months, my forum grow up to 1000 members. I was satisfy with this result although this is not a millions members record.

Now a day, i am waiting for the banner.
Yes, i pay the banner printing company to print me 100 banners. And hanging along the road. Also, i post the banner to another state members to doing so.

Of course, all this is your COST!!! You have to pay this!!!

here are my tips to do it rapidly..

1.Social networking
-like Friendster,Myspace,Facebook

2.Google Adword
-Most powerful method to advertise your site.Able to reach over a million visitor

3.Video Marketing
-post on popular video sites and add the url inside that video..I'm using this technique, and my traffic boost up two times from before..haha..

4.Exchange LInk
-exchange link with related sites or blog..

- Post your website's link in popular forums in Malaysia
* Use pretty girls avatar in your Facebook profile & ask any boys out there to promote it for you (The most effective strategy XD)

Erm... community... forum.. right?

To build an 'alive' community wasn't be easy.

1 . NICHE
The first thing first is the NICHE of your community.
Example, there's so many outside there 'friendster & myspace wannabe' community.
That's mean, you had to compete with well established one.

So.. you must find your own niche. That's none be the same as your community site.

2. TARGET USER.
When we talking about niche, we had a targeted and specified user right? Now, you can promote your community site as unique as it is.. Those people in the same interest, will join and register to your site.

3. TREAT THEM WELL .
Make them as a friend.. Don't treat members as a 'product' or 'subject'. To be ADMIN of the site should be meaning you're A GOOD LEADER & FRIEND.
NOT you're superadmin or GOD!. Don't ever you try to be soooooo exclusive.

4. PROMOTE THE MODERATORS or WEBTEAM.
Those good in PR, Knowledgeable, or has a prety face and handsome hehe... to be a part of your team.

5. I wont tell you more unless you pay me.. hahahaha


I think.. for the start up.. 4 step above is enough..

i plan to do video marketing to improve my blog traffic..any idea here??

if wanna upload some video at youtube there...then sure got lots of traffic there, right?? since youtube now is the world's top video sharing site...

i must think out some way to improve amount people to view it then only can come back to my blog frequently..stil seeking the way to it..

my target now is youtube & metacafe...any suggestion??

it's depend on how good and attractive your video. Else.. it's just a video.

there are few methods u can apply to increase your traffic.

1. register with social bookmarking website i.e digg, stumbleupon, yahoo buzz etc
2. join blog forums & dont forget to mention your blog url on each posts
3. use google adwords<--the most effective way
4. put your blog url on your business card<---one of the cheap advertise method

Build an online community actually is not easy, infact, it takes huge commitment of time and effort.

My advice is always start with providing content (using blog, or articles) first. Until you have a big group of followers/readers, then only inject the forum.

Just share my experience on building my Part Time Job Community.

1. Use Social Networking - FaceBook, Freidnster, etc..
Use it a the gateway to communicate with your community. Try to link out with them and enter their social life.
2. Be Niche - Focus on certain topic. No more general forum like Cari and LowYat. Easier for you to market with single domain of interest.
3. Sharing - Always share some tips with the community like blog.
4. SEO - 60% of my traffic is from Search Engine. Free Traffic. Focus on it!
5. Boom other forum/blog - Try to leave some high quality comment with link @ the signature.
6. Be Patient - Growing a new community is not that easy. May be I am slow, I used 3 months to get 500 unique visitors per day.
