Drupal

at SuccessideaWeb dot com, we have been using Joomla, enjoy it's friendliness (at first), but now we are using Drupal as our web application framework which we can build a prototype and commission a feature-rich as well as a customized solution for you quickly.

maybe a little homework would help

it's a content management system - open source. Blogging is part of the features as alternative to say wordpress (dedicated for blog).

Of course, you can insert flash easily with the microsoft word-like publishing i.e TinyMCE of FCK editor.

Thumbs up

Hemm... Joomla is good but tedious back-end administration to do and also bandwidth consuming normally will cause you to upgrade your hosting package. This has happened with KLPOS.COM (news portal), after 1 week of launch the were forced to upgrade to dedicated hosting due to high traffic and processing resource in the server were monopolized.

Howewer if you use joomla for your own community and the traffic is not that high then I think it's ok. I had installed one of my customer site with joomla - so far so good.

I've also tried drupal - sigh... the learning curve is terrible - not finish learning yet and taking time off. Got to concentrate on my membership website - of course la... want to make some money on the net...

I found a complete free video tutorial on drupal on youtube some 2-3 months back, if you'all are interested please google for it at youtube. It's quite comprehensive - hey, its free after all.

najibx - wah you site very beautiful maa .. hope you'll be successful. (sshhh... maybe can you can share with us the secret in building nice website using drupal... can la...can la..)

ppl said that Joomla is poor for community building and SEO. After they tried Drupal. They found it beyond their expectation bcos the sourcing code packaging is small. Joomla 1.5 will take about 10M space.

yes.. in term space hungry joomla.. you also upload too many unused item.. and theme also.. remove / delete unused item first also unneeded modules too.. then upload.

What a beautiful joomla admin panel is graphic intensive = slow loading time too.. you got beauty, you lost speed load.
The menu.. sigh.. i won't let you down, iam suffer using joomla about 6 month, i couldn't think it easy .

And to mode the theme, it is really normal look.. 3 colum, left and right, or 2 column with bla bla bla.. you can't do fancy2 one.. because you will break the BLOCK.

WP only supply 2 standard theme... upload your chosen theme later. and upload only want to use plugin.

The common used wp plugin :
- contact form : (you can customized and place it any page you want).
- pool : if you need to.
- ads plugin : if you need too.. such as adsense deluxe (but you also can used for anykind of ads too)
- many more..

Just install if you need to.. That mean EFFICIENT.

But many other scripts.. wont do that, zipped file is about 6mb, after unzipped = up more than 10MB.. gosh.. such a waste.

Some die-hard-fan of either joomlah, phpnuke (die rip already agaknya) etc etc.. just can't accept the facts.. yes.. i do know.. joomla won some award.. but to be honest.. if WP can join in CMS category, other will fail. Unfortunately, wp known as blog sware.. but it's really flexible!

Now.. make your own comparison..
- Speed loading
- Easy customization and placement. (WP is hardest for poor handcode programmer.. since most of them WON'T LEARN total CSS code)
- SEO of course.
- Bla bla...

Let me say you something.. most of the Really Successfull Usahawan Internet used Wordpress!.. either for their blog, or their look alike CMS site.

After reviewing so many scripts {open source} installing and testing it out over the past few years, I must say, the best is .... jeng jeng jeng ....

DRUPAL

I'm not being disloyal to Joomla/Mambo since I've been using that s/w for quite some time - more than 5 years, but after reviewing Drupal, I fell in love with the script - its so well written, and yes, the Community's ... support is awesome too. Very prompt, very knowledgeable and courteous.

AainaalyaA, have you found any good photoblog/photo album module for Drupal?

So far, I tried AcidFree but its not fully compatible with 5.3, so I'm sticking to Images module instead ... but devs that I know have mentioned that the other works equally well.

I'm still looking for a good themer tho' - know anyone Najib? Can you do it?

If you go to AsidrA Society | The Future Begins With You!, I'm using the simplest, and bloat-free Images module instead, and its good. I guess if you want a fancier one, you'd have to code it yourself

here to be more precise
