can't see the benefit yet.

i worked hard to create a sitemap generator, and submitted the sitemap, yet the bot hasn't come after 4 days waiting.

mungkin kena piat telinga lepas tu seret bawak ke site aku baru dia nak crawl.

Google Sitemap is very useful for quick spidering by the Googlebot. If your site is still not spidered even after you have uploaded your sitemap, check to see if the sitemap is recognised by Google or if your domain is verified, and also check the Google crawl time rate. That is usually the reason for the slowness.

without robot.txt googlebot still can crawl to your site but with robot.txt u can restrict the crawler to crawl or not to crawl a certain pages of your choice

Google sometime take few months to crawl your site, but sometime only take one day.

even if a site got crawl by the google bots, it doesn't mean it would get listed immediately. probably link popularity affect much in this

Use Google XML generator Plugin for Wordpress
If your website is building using wordpress, then install this plugin (Google Sitemap Generator for WordPress v2 Final) to generate your sitemap on the fly.

It will auto ping google to crawl your latest sitemap.

it is not necessary to submit to gg directories for gg to notice about your site, but if u wish to do some SEO for your site instead of waiting for gg to get to u,u can submit to bunch of directories for some exposure for back linking and sitemaping.
