Will Google Combat Against Text Link Ads ?

Google Adsense is probably the largest advertising program on internet. However, I worried whether Google will take any concrete action on those who put Text Link ads and Google ads concurrently? Will page rank be affected? Or is it just a rumour?

Hi, Goolie. I am putting Advertlets and Nuffnang together with Adsense. As far as I know, you can put any ads along with Adsense, AS LONG AS they are not context ads and you don't make them appear as if they are from Google Adsense. Is Text Link ads worth putting? I have registered for it but never display it before.

While we are on the topic of advertisements, what is your opinion of Advertlets and Nuffnang. Advertlets is crediting my account but Nuffnang is not. Nuffnang gives me the impression that they are quite a greedy company. They "encourage" you to join their Glitterati program where you have to drop all other ads to give them a monopoly of your site. And to hell with you if you don't. They don't even bother to reply to your tickets. Three tickets still open since 17th June. I am thinking of getting rid of it and putting other ads in its place.

Have already ditched Nuffnang and Advertlets long time ago... u get peanuts from them

About the TLA mentioned by Goolie.. it's not about it being contextual or not (it's defitenitely not against Adsense policies as it's non contextual).......... i think the concern should be about selling links.

Google ranks pages based on inbound links (peer votes)... theoretically, you link(vote) to a site only if you think the site has good content and has "authority" over certain topic. Therefore selling links can artificially increase the page rank of the sites that buy links (as u link to the site not because of content but because of $$$ )............. therefore, YES, it's a genuine concern but how Google will deal with your site if you sell links? NO IDEA

Btw, that's y Google introduced and recommend the attribute rel="nofollow" for all non-voting links ......... just like all the links in Wordpress/Blogger comments are automatically added the rel="nofollow" attribute.... also implemented by Wikipedia for all their outgoing links.
(but we can't control how TLA display the links on our page anyway)

Oh ya, one of my site with TLA..... no PR penalty ... yet .... still PR4 (or maybe it should already be PR5 if there's no TLA ??? God knows hahaha)

don't be so happy about this yet....

2 of my website that i've put TLA suffer a pr drop... i'm not 100% sure whether TLA affected it but i believe it 90% so coz the drop in pr occurs after i added in the TLA...

Last time both of my web used to have pr5 and 4 for few years but after adding TLA... it just drop to pr3 and never increase thereafter...

TLA is compatible with Adsense but don't just don't make TLA looks like a the linkunit nor place them close to each other....

who told you that? or you read some internet marketing crap ebooks...

High PR will make you lots of money? From where. Text Link Ads?
You join text link ads, you will be penalized by Google. Anything to manipulate google ranking, will be penalized or banned.

High PR doesn't mean you get lots of traffic.

Lets Google engineer teach you. More info on PageRank

I was afraid reading this..
but for my non experience...
free traffic does really need search engine
optimization with specifically software that really work..

Write articles about your website or ideas.
Share knowledge, use keywords, viral content
Go ahead, advertise yourself.
Make your article famous!
Invite others to read your article!
There are no rules.

you still make traffic

I just got this newsletter from SitePro News entitled "Optimize Your Website...and They Will Come" which says:

Debunking Some Popular Search Engine Ranking Myths
  • Pay per clíck (PPC) ads will either help or hurt organic rankings. (Organic simply means the process by which web users find websites having unpaid search engine listings.)
Debunked: PPC is categorized differently than organic listings. There is no effect, one way or the other, on ranking.
  • Websites are banned if they ignore Google guidelines.
Debunked: While it's a good idea to read Google Webmaster Guidelines or Google 101: How Google Crawls, Indexes and Serves the Web, you are not banned if you ignore their guidelines.
  • Websites are banned if they buy links.
Debunked: Sites are not banned. The links just aren't counted.
  • Copy must be a certain number of words, use a specific keyword density, and contain bold or italicized keywords.
Debunked: It used to be thought that there was a magic number of words used or certain times a keyword or keyword phrase should be repeated. Not so. Same with bolding and italicizing. They don't do anything for ranking.
  • Duplicate content will get your website penalized.
Debunked: It will just get filtered out and not counted.
Use Web CEO for Capturing the Number 1 Position in Google!
  • Reciprocal links won't count.
Debunked: Every link counts, to a certain extent.
  • SEO companies can improve your rankings without doing any on-page work.
Debunked: Run if an SEO company tells you this.
According to SEO expert Jill Whalen, SEO isn't magic and isn't a crap-shoot. "SEO is about making your website the best it can be for your site visitors and the search engines." Want to help the right kind of people find your website? Then you need to design your site so search engines can find, crawl and index your pages.
