Don't use aggressive marketing & overtly plug your product or service. Rather, add to the discussion in a helpful way and let the "signature" ( or sometimes called sig files ) at the end of your e-mail message do your marketing for you. People will gradually get to know & trust you, visit your site, & do business with you.

I'd like to add a way of promotin your site. Develop your own software. I think toolbar will be the best. Look: if you have an e-store - you can inform your customers about new goods, using your toolbar. They may make an order trough it. If you have a forum - well a "top 10 topics" tool would be useful. Toolbar may become some sort of a control panel for a client of hosting company, etc. And at last. Such a soft - it is a bridge between web and software world - could you copy your site to disc to show it to your friends? And such a toolbar is quite easy to distribute. Think about it. It could become a powerful marketing tool.

i agree. the more toolbars users download, basically the more traffic you get from these users. they keep coming to your website over and over again. toolbars are definitely an effective way to drive traffic to your website. thanks for sharing.
