May I know how exactly back links work?
If I put your URL link on my homepage but you
didn't put mine...is that considered back link?

I thought both parties should put each other
URLs, only then it benefits both for higher ranking?

I found a high ranking site which offers links
but I couldn't find any links from another web site.
Even in the agreement, they didn't mention anything
about linking back. So, the question is - why
do they offer link if they didn't link back?

Pls help, I'm much confused

Essentially backlinks is how many sites are linking to yours.

If you have 500 sites saying for

Johor Maps<-- link this to streetdirectory.com/malaysia/johor, pls visit Streetdirectory.net.my, then you can get very high ranking when someone searches google for Johor Maps.

You are better off if there is only 1 way backlink. Meaning they link to you and not you link to them. Dats call 2 way linking. Google somehow thinks when there is 2 way linking from both sites, its not geniune. But still, its not dat bad especially if the links are related. But try to get 1 way links. Its much better that way.

Some webmasters uses more complicated methods e.g They have 6 to 7 websites and they crosslink using other sites e.g You link to my website A and my website C will link back to u. Then both gets 1 way linking. Smart isnt it.

i think... low traffic doesnt matter.
if a low traffic website with pr3 above linked to your site that would better quality linkback..
but a linkback from high traffic and high PR is more better.

Well generally you want sites with good pageranks to link to you. Some good sites dont have much traffic but they have a pagerank of 6 or even 7. I have seen many of these sites. Also getting sites with domains like .org or .gov.my to link to you does improve your google ranking.

But in general, the industry in M'sia is not that competitive yet. Unless you have like 30 sites all eyeing for the same keyword then u need to find more creative ways of getting better quality sites to link to you. Otherwise any one way link to your site is good.

Yes. Any backlinks help, as long as it's not a "bad links" (spam, link farm, etc).

One way backlinks from High PR -> Best
Link exchange backlinks from High PR -> Good
One way backlinks from Low PR/No PR -> Normal
Link exchange backlinks from Low PR/No PR -> Soso.

That's just my interpretation.
