Please refer to your post at MYWHT, as I replied there: http://www.webhostingtalk.com.my/ind...&st=0#entry752 Thanks. |

Hi Lcf,
Yes, he means local server by localhost. Anyway, I dare not complain much about our local connection here :P But we do, have a server in EXPAN, Singapore (SingTel IX) and we are currently building our own server, colocate it in EXPAN and rent out as dedicated servers. To me, EXPAN is really reliable. |

Hi Knight,
Of course accessing local server is faster. It should be around 50ms. However, if you are targetting international audience, I would recommend you to get a US server. This is because the ping time from US to local server will be around 280ms. Accessing Singapore server will be around 100ms but the ping time from US is around 200ms. Thanks. |

I wouldn't complain much about TMNet's connection to the rest of the world. Telekom Malaysia is said to be the largest ISP in South East Asia and has some of the best connections to the rest of the world. Also, if I'm not mistaken, Myloca has a 4x155Mbps connection throughout the DC and Netmyne has something like 12x155Mbps.
I am able to easily get 500kbps from a server housed in the same Myloca DC as one of our servers - I am running off a T3 line in Toronto, Canada. Some US based servers, I can't even get a constant 200kbps. So, I wouldn't really say US has better hardware, quality, etc... You just have to do your research and find the best places. But then, be prepared to pay.

Hi UltraUnix,
It is nice to see you here. This is interesting. Please take a look at the quote below from SingTel EXPAN's web site: Quote:
1. Telekom - Largest ISP in SEA 2. SingTel - Largest backbone in Asia Any idea, guys? |

Hi Michael!
![]() I don't doubt SingTel has the largest backbone in Asia, but I wouldn't be surprised if Telekom Malaysia isn't far behind. But to be honest, we won't really know. I mean, I'm sure SingTel's backbone is amazingly fast to many places, while Telekom's is just as good to others! It's like that with any backbone, isn't it? You may be great to Location A but bad to Location B, etc...

Well, I'm not quite sure if SingTel operates Asia largest backbone or not, however, I'm pretty sure that their backbones are very much saturated as I don't seem to get good speed from any of Singapore servers from my US servers.
Besides, we have took our Asia operation from Hong Kong back to Malaysia due to the fact that HK didn't impress us much with their speed (US is our concern) but surprisingly, I find Malaysia get so much better speed than HK and Singapore. |
