How to point a subdomain to external IP/Host?

Hi all WebMaster,
Need your guidance. I have a domain (www.mydomain.com) hosted in US.
I would like to set a subdomain(blog.mydomain.com) to point to a host in Malaysia. Is that possible?

Sure, just add an A ip to blog.mydomain.com in your DNS management at your US server.

Anyway, will it get penalty for duplicate content since both address is hostign the same content?

how come same content?

unless your subdomain is an exact copy of your domain (www), it can't be the same. if it is, why would you want to do that?
