Web hosting hate me, I want to host myself

before this, a hosting company delete all my files in one of my subdomain including the PHP script and some beautiful graphic rather than block my website connection..

this is just because i got very high traffic even i have too many bandwidth and space available (they lack of cpu resources and RAM). but i think the speed are lower than stated above.. many of light web application cannot run smoothly. the bandwidth are headless

now, my website just like haunted mansion. nearly no traffic

this is a mistake..

one day, i want install a chinese script.. i have a problem with the configuration and i give them a try to solve the problem.. maybe they dont know how to spell pinyin, and they simply said that it should be wrong password.. absolutely they wrong.. they dont ever try to install it.. i feel like geek of the answer

too low speed compared to my other website at other hosting company..

i cant serve some serious service, and sadly i have lost nearly all of my visitor because too many downtime, and many of them said my website are to hard to loaded..


and i worried the hosting company steal my sensitive informatin in my website

i just wonder myspace.com who owned by a man hosted somewhere and maintained by his girlfriend...

and yet wikipedia.org server also maintained by one person rather by hosting company.

how can they have such incredible speed? what the connection they use?

They run on dedicated servers, which is quite pricey. You can host your site on dedicated servers too.
BTW, you'll need someone to manage that server for you, so for a basic dedicated server it will likely cost your $150-$170/month, and around $25/month for someone to manage it for you.

This is exactly why you should not go for hosting which offers you large space and bandwidth at low prices. When you start using up other server resources, you will be kicked out even though you haven't reached the space or bandwidth limit.

If your site is important to you, try to find out what sort of resources you actually need, then budget for it and find something suitable for that price. Most people go for low price, so many hosts advertise low price with large space to attract you even more. But in the end, you suffer. The host gets their money anyway.

You said you use others hosts. Ask them if this website will run on their servers without problems. Or get a VPS, or a dedicated server as EEWebHost-JLHC said above.

Your service is in SHARED enviroment. Meaning you share the server resources with other customers.

MYSPACE or WIKI have their own infrastructure. They own the network (leased), network equipment and serversssss.

That is why they got hte incredible speed.

yes,. i use others hosts.. and running dedicated server.. that was no prob.

but this mistake is really big pain..

maybe i need to see the negative side of their customer before going to host my website there..

By all means, we never recommend any webmaster to host the website themselves - if you mean you wanted to host your website at your home, connecting to streamyx.

There are too many issue you need to deal with - from security issue (prevent from being hacked) to maintaining the server up time.

If your website still don't experience any high traffic, try few of our local reliable hosting provider. Search for the feedbacks here and you'll separate the good apples from the bad one.

i face this problem before, and been blacklisted(1 of my site w/o giving notice, now release) by hosting company, now i am looking for other hosting company to host my current website and forum in fast speed, expecially forum, any recommendation?

if u have a good budget maybe you can try dedicated a server. or semi-dedicated.

this can allow you to use higher cpu usage of a server.

As JLHC mentioned, those websites run on dedicated servers. If you are afraid of a web hosting company stealing your data, you might want to consider purchasing your own server, and colocating it at a data center. However, the next issue you will face is the security of your server.

If you do not want to get your own server, you can try VPS (virtual private servers / semi-dedicated servers) or Dedicated server. You will be given root access to the server. And you can check the log to see if anybody did try to access your server, even the webhost. However, do note that it is pretty costly compared to shared web hosting.

My advice, go for a VPS for a start, they start around 100RM i believe? I am not so sure with the Malaysia market price. You can get somewhere around 5GB to 50GB of space to start with. For VPS and dedicated servers, the bandwidth is normally not oversold as badly compared to shared hosting.

I would too recommend to start with VPs if you are on low budget but I would recommend a dedicated server if you are really concerned about any 3rd parties stealing your valuable information. A well managed dedicated server would cost you over $150 considering the management and control panel costs etc.
