Hi All

Anybody here tried Namecheap Pro Hosting Plan before? It is USD$6.95 per month? Is it reasonable compared with other similar overseas web hosting plan?
And how's the service?

I would not recommend you to get hosting with domain registrar, and vice versa. Look at the others like godaddy and you will understand.

Hi, I was going to recommend GoDaddy too to gohpk because of the price. Siteground is also charging USD$6.95. I started with absolutely no experience and was worried about webhosts disappearing overnight.

JLHC, do you know whether GoDaddy do website transfers and whether they have the technical support?

All I can say is to stay away from host which oversells massively (giving unrealistic plans for cheap prices).

Some of the problems you will face are:-
- Cramped servers causes your site to be slow.
- You can never really use all the space and bandwidth provided. You will get suspended for using too much cpu or ram usage (check their terms of service)
- Unreliable. A site which uses too much resources in the same server as yours will cause the whole server to go down, which will affect your site.
- Many-many more...

Do you really need that much space and bandwidth? It is better to be realistic.

I would recommend that you choose something reasonable instead of a host that provides you with tons of space and bandwidth that you know they will not be able to provide.

If you do not believe, think of it this way, a standard server would be around 2 X 320GB Hdd or maybe 2 X 500GB Hdd up to the max of 2 X 1TB Hdd. I mean standard, not the maximum a server can take. A host that gives you 1TB of space, how do you think they will be able to maintain that amount of space? If you still think that they will be able to do so, try uploading unix distros on their server to distribute, in a matter of time, you will get kicked off their server. Either for an excessive usage of server resource or something along that line.

Conclustion: Get something reasonable and reliable!

I never try namecheap hosting, but my personal opinion is never have the same hosting with my domain provider.
