Very very vague info from Exabytes.... they should give details like what script or application is causing the abuse ...... so that we know how to prevent it from happening.
Really would like to know the actual cause.... pls keep us posted ![]() They expect us to "decode" the screen dump? ... I don't know wattahack they mean ![]() Last edited by yonghs; 26-06-2008 at 09:26 PM. |

ok guys, here some news update regarding this case.
most hoster are like that, this is their trick to ask client upgrade hosting. What 300GB space and 300GB bandwidth all are fake They won let u use so much, I am subscribe to their Ebiz 1, which is 50GB bandwidth, and average I am using 6/50 average per month.(this 2 month about 16/50) What happen if I use up 20GB or 1000 visit per days? My traffic hit 3000 to 6000/days before quite some time ago(some time), but I never encounter this "high CPU consumption" before, and recently my visitor maintain 300++ per days, and they told me I have "high consumption" After they unsuspended my account, I was asking them Quote:

They do mention that my db are become bigger size and every time visitor access my website, the query become longer, my database only 6.69MB, does this consider big?

Hmm.. 300++ visitors/day shouldn't cause problems... unless all of them try to access at the same time right?
![]() One of my site (a database driven site) has 500 ~ 600 visitors a day (about 3GB transfer a month)... this means Exabytes will contact me soon ar ![]() Btw, your data transfer seem high?? You're using Wordpress right? |

They did the same thing to me
I think you are not only the victim, they do the same thing to me. Once they found out your website use more resources, they will cap your CPU usage to 3% max for your pool. So what will happen when your website reach that cap, your website will be down for a while....I argue with them for a lot of round, but still no solutions.
So, what is the solution they offer?? Ask you to migrate to semi-d or better server lor, of coz $$$$ more. Exabyte, is this the way you treat your customer??? So what I did was migrate my server to another semi-d hosting but not exabyte, why?? If i over use again, Exabyte will ask u to migrate to dedicated server lor... A lot of people said they are the best host in town...emm... I think I will move all my company website from them...This kind of service, how can trust to upgrade my plan while the share hosting service already so bad. ![]() |

You are on a shared hosting server. There is no way that you will be able to use large amounts of resources on the server as this wil affect all other users on the server as well. This is why we always say that you will generally never be able to use the large space and data transfer they offer due to restrictions on other resources. Hosts have mislead users by offering such large amounts which the user will most liely never get to use fully. The best thing you can do is to estimate your resource usage and buy hosting according to that and your budget. Don't keep looking for the largest space/data transfer for the least money. You will eventually get in trouble and be asked to upgrade or leave. If you have a site that consumes a lot of resources and the site is important to you, don't put it on a shared hosting as it is most likely not suitable for a shared hosting environment anyway. Get something suitable for the site. If it cost more, than that is what you should pay. I don't think this is considered high. The problem is not necessarily your site alone. If the server is overloaded with many other sites and there is not enough resources on the server in general, then you will also face this problem. |

![]() How many visitors actually visited at the time that caused overload? What's meant by "large" number of hits? How many hits at the time of overload? Their recent price increase ..sweetened by storage / bandwidth increase is also meaningless going by these cases. iCalvyn, Maybe u should hardcode your links... the menubar.......... and also the categories at the sidebar (and don't show number of posts within categories) ....... should help in reducing queries ![]() Last edited by yonghs; 28-06-2008 at 09:43 PM. |

knock knock knock...!
hello, how can we check how much cpu resource our website use? i believe only the people at the hosting company know. anyway, calvyn its time to move on to another phase for your webhosting. perhaps you may consider a vps or something better than a shared hosting |
