As I said before, the story will be different if you are using an application/script that is actively being developed. Yes, the security leakage is still there but since it is actively being developed, it will be patched up very fast.

For the scripts that have not been updated for decades, are you going to patch it yourself or you're going to hunt the developers out to repair it?
