Any good forum host??

Hey everyone!
Newbie here.. So, please pardon me if I've said anything stupid or wrong.. Anyway, I'm pretty bad with computer stuff and all and I was wondering if anyone could recommend some good trustworthy host?? Cause I'm planning to start a forum and I need about 500MB of space and unlimited bandwidth (if possible) And my own domain. Any good host within Malaysia? So that it'll be easier for me with the payments and technical support (cause I think I'll be needing it badly).

I know there are alot of free forums out there which provides these requirements, but the one in charge insist on getting our own paid forums :

1st, i'll like to congrats and welcome abod to the webmastermalaysia.com ..

here's my advice.
U already have a vision making a forum, and also look serious taking paid hosting and domain name.

However, seem look alike u already lack of experience in www world.
So wish that's not a bad dream of yours after this.

here's my advice.
As i see you ask for Basic PHP mysql. I think that u r really zero . Soo.. i would like to ask u :

1. Do you have builded website? mean u made it by yourself. Design it by urself etc.
if not, it's better for u to learn the basic thing first.. at least some basic.

2. Do you know HTML? Perfectly? Intermediatly?
Because it's a ROOT language for the web. If u want to Programing in PHP/MYSQL later.. this is A MUST thing u should perpectly mastered!. Without it.. u are hardly to go on.

3. What the thing that's inspire u to make a FORUM kind of website?
If you think it gonna make you a WA-WA/ UH-UH webmaster.. stop thinking of that.. because to make a forum that have lots of members etc is a really-really damn hard. Let say, like some ADUN (ahli dewan undangan negeri) or some MINISTER that CAMPAIGN during the National Election . Err something like that lah..
Otherwise.. if you take it as a challenge to your selft.. It's okay.. At least u not frust so much later..

For me.. The forum is just the 'NORMAL' dream of people that think they r a Famous LEADER... bluewk...

Soo.. dont forget too... DOMAIN NAME MUST BE GOOD!.

Another questions:

1. Are you already running a forum currently? If you are just about to start a new forum, start off with smaller diskspace. Don't waste unnecessary money.

2. Do you have any forum script in your mind now? If you don't, do consider web hosts that offer Fantastico Deluxe. Using Fantastico, you may install forums like phpBB & SMF in clicks, without having the knowledge of PHP & mySQL.

And actually, I'm just helping my cousin. She wants to create a fan based forum for a taiwanese singer. And they predicted that there'll be quite alot of people in the forum, so I guess that's why we need alot of space and bandwidth.. I'm not doing all this just to be popular or anything if that's what your trying to say. I'm just trying to help.

Well, I'm not really sure what my cousin had in mind, cause she was never that specific in details. All I know is that she wants it to look different. Not like how other normal free forums would look like. So that's why I wanted to know more about PHP & mySQL. And honestly, I'm not really sure how phpBB & SMF works once I get a host.

another question, would it be the same if I get a web hosting and a forum hosting? I was wondering if its possible to get a web hosting and then use PHP & my SQL or the phpBB & SMF.. would that work?

I would assume the web host that offers Forum Hosting will install forum for you by default. Same goes to others like Image Hosting & Blog Hosting. As I said earlier, if you choose a web host that offers Fantastico Deluxe, it doesn't make any difference for forum/image/blog hosting because you can actually install the scripts using Fantastico in just a few clicks. No programming knowledge is needed.

I would suggest you to try phpBB. It's the best free forum.

Anyways, phpBBserver is on GNAX's network. I must say that GNAX's network is very reliable.
