Any local IDC with Professional Managed Services ?

Is there any local IDC that provides full blown professional managed services beside co-lo and dedicated server, such as:
- Backup /Storage/Disaster Recovery Site
- Load balancing
- Firewall
- Site Security
- Caching
- VPN
- Mirroring
- Administration
- others ?

My company is going to launch an e-learning program nationwide. So, we need an IDC. First year might be server co-lo at reliable IDC. Subsequent years would be on our own IDC.

MyLOCA does not provide such service. I have asked quote from them already. The best thing they could do is to pass it to WebVision.
BTW, myLOca is now merged with NetMyne under one entity.

Mizan is correct. Webvisions is only a network upstream provider, something they are doing in Singapore as well.

MyLOCA is an IDC. WebVision is using MyLoca's service. From what I understand, MyLOca do provide co-lo but they dont do Professional Managed Service(PMS). I have checked with them already. They have standard service only such as firewall, anti virus and backup. Meanwhile, WebVison, by using MyLoca, offers co-lo / dedicated server plus PMS. So, to me they are an IDC. And that is what they considered themselve.
Besides WebVison, I have checked also with ArcNet ( (NTT ). They also do not provide PMS as comprehensive as Webvision.
So, if I were to get co-lo service from MyLoca or NTT, I have to outsource the PMS to some one ( may be company like Webvison ). Now, what I want to know is whether there are any other company that can provide co-lo + PMS like WebVison.

Bottom line is, my company's core business is producing e-learning courseware. So, we want to somesort of total outsource the communication infrastructure ( maintain IDC and its operation) to someone who are expert in that field.

That's right. MyLoca doesn't manage your server. They just host your server. You can hire a serveradmin or outsource it to any company who are able to manage your server. PMS is just an add-on service given by the company, not MyLoca. I'm sure they charge for server management fees.

Sorry to be a little rude but WHY are you looking for the IDC to actually provide Server Management for you? You'd be a little OUT OF YOUR MIND to get them to do it. From what I've seen and known, MyLOCA provides the lousiest service that anyone could ever think about.

I've called them and asked them to give me a quote on Co-Lo's and etc and they took 2 weeks to give me a call back just to get the same information that I gave them the other time. After that it took them about 4 weeks (after me getting frustrated of waiting and calling them up) to get back to me with a quotation.

If you'd like to have server management with them, I'd totally say that you're an IDIOT. I wouldn't let MyLOCA touch my server even if my life depended on it.

Anyway, just get a COLO from anyone at all and get yourself a server administrator. I'm sure that by doing so, you will get better results and also better prices. Although I don't spend anything at all for server management (hire competant and highly skilled staff), I still feel that outsourcing them would be a lot better than getting your CoLo provider to do it. (Ain't that the real reason why you CoLo?)

If you're really needing Server Management, then HIRE someone on the inside or just get a Dedicated Server. To COLO means that you're actually able to handle your stuff and etc and not worry about server management and etc. It's kinda pathetic do a CoLo and then ask for server management. Doesn't sound right to me

Hello Zumaidi,

For your information, MyLOCA only provide bandwidth monitoring, DDoS attack handling and server reboot service if you rent a rack from them, half rack is about RM4000/month, quarter is RM2000/month and based on availibility.
Thus, you have to purchase IP from them which about RM80/IP/year.

Co-location with any hosting company at MyLOCA will based on your server size.
Normally 1U will cost about RM399/month + 4 IP address.

However most of the hosting company will charged for additional fees if you required PMS services. You better hire a webmaster which will schedulely patching your server, backup, disk check and etc.

Load balancing can only be archieve if you having a server cluster or cluster through apache. Normally additional RAM will overcome the server load efficiently.

NTT does not provide unlimited bandwidth for their line. MyLOCA do sharing the bandwidth among all server in the IDC. (2 x 155Mbps)

If you only serving clients within Malaysia, MyLOCA do provide the best speed.

If you're looking for local IDC with Managed services, suggests u take a look on Free Net services. Maybe you can take a look on their website for the list of managed services! www.wmm4u.com

If not mistaken, when i was working there last time, they did have a lot of big corporate who let free net to manage their server in their own IDC. such as the RHB, Maybank, ....... all those database maintenance service, backup and disaster recovery service...and so on la..can't rememeber at all la since i was working there back to 2 years ago!!

Besides, others such as Skali also provide managed services. but heard that they're not providing 24hours x 7 days real time supports, if want to do troubleshooting, maintenance on your server, may need to book the schedule with them first ? is that true ?

why dont you take part in our training for your own future use. we have training for disaster discovery etc. go to www.eccouncil.org and check the training. once you take the lesson you can use it for the rest of your life.

Does freenet has their own IDC? And I thought most bankers outsource their server management service to csam.com.my? Freenet mostly handle webserver management tho I'm seeing they are selling voip now
