My new hosting sucks

I am thinking of moving to a new host for my new blog, What's This Then? (www.whats-this-then.com). I have been experiencing problems with the host server ever since I started the blog (uptime was only for a few hours on Sunday morning) and it is currently still down.

I paid RM20 for 1GB space and that server is located in the US. I know not many people can match this offer so I dont mind paying a little bit more as long as it is below RM100. What's This Then? is a humour blog, in case anyone is wondering.

I'm sorry to hear your bad experience with your new web hosting company. Anyways, would you mind telling us what kind of advise you would like to give us, eg, stay away from your new hosting company?

Last but not least, is the RM20 an annual fee or monthly fee?

Try easynet-interactive. I've used them for 2 years and so far, no probs.
Support is pretty quick too.

If you got paypal money, use it on asmallorange. Support is excellent.

Yeah, stay away from cheap offers like that, LOL! The RM20 was supposed to be for hosting space for three years.

Anyway, just want to inform everyone that I have just secured a new host space with another company, seems trustworthy this time

I checked today and my old hosting service is still not up. Its probably out of business Yeah, looks like I got cheated out of my RM20.

Luckily I made the switch and managed to backup some of the data from the old site. Otherwise, I would die!

I can't understand why some hosting can't manage to do a simple work! They just need to
1- Update antivirus
2- Make sure it is on 24 hours
3- make a super duper easy support

No offense, but managing a server isn't as easy as what you've mentioned. I'm sure system administrators out there will have to agree with my statement.

Generally, antivirus on webservers are just to protect its users from receiving viruses via email. The webserver itself does not require antivirus solutions simply because the admin knows what they are doing -- what they wget to the server.

To make sure the server runs 24x7x365, it is even more difficult. That comes to why some servers have perfect uptime (>99.9%) while some just down frequently. It all depends on the system admin's experience and knowledge in managing the server.
