Next recommendation after Exabytes?
Hello,
I've browsed around the forum looking for the most reliable and fast hosting company. Come to my mind that over all the threads and post, exabytes was highly recommended. However, Exabytes lowest plan of EbiZ 1 priced at aroun rm 190 per year is rather over my budget and I doesn't need such high specification. My priority will be reliability and speed, Its for a private site and doesn't need very high specification. My budget is around RM 100 per year. Hope you guys can recommend me a reliable company for my site Cheers |

RM100 is not even enough to cover the cost from the web hosts point of view.
I have not know any GOOD web hosts that offer this low. If you are not looking for a host from Malaysia, I can recommend http://www.asmallorange.com/ (starts from $25 per year). |

asmallorange is good. I use them.
Another Malaysian hosting i would recommend is www.easynet-interactive.com I use them too Always remember that cheap things are not necessary good. My advise is to increase your budget if you are serious in webmastering.

thanks limcs and kawan for the reply.
My priority would not be on specification, more focus on reliability and speed.. My target audience will mainly be in Asia (Mostly Malaysia and Singapore) so the speed for both target must be good. I figured that since my expectation on specification isn't high, the additional money i've set for such low specification can be put on reliability and speed. It's a personal site, monthly I might only get 30 unique visits etc. Diskspace of 100 to 200mb is sufficient Monthly bandwidth of 2 to 3 gb is sufficient Sql database of around 3 is sufficient. I'm looking for a reliable company with excelent customer support, in another words.. I'm not looking for a 1 man company.. Any other suggestions is greatly appreciated. Cheers |

easynet-interactive.com is definitely not a one man company. Exabytes at least has 20 over staffs. The other cheaper alternative is http://ipserverone.com . But I have not personally use it before, so I could not say anything about'em. |

Thanks Kawan and limcs for the reply again. Sorry Limcs I wasn't refering easynet-interactive as a 1 man company I'm just saying in general of my expectation. Sorry for the misunderstanding and no offence .. hope none was taken.. For the both easynet-interactive and asmallorange. I notice asmallorange is overseas company while easynet is local. However both their server is hosted over at U.S. As my target audience resides in asia (Malaysia & Singapore). Do you think I should get a web hosting company which host is local? so I can get better speeds for my target audience. If so, can you guys recommend me any others? Preferable company who focus on hosting "only" not others such as web designing etc. But either way works for me.. as I said.. preferable.. Thanks guys.. have a nice weekend |

The speed for a US based hosting and Malaysia based hosting on my end here is like the sky and the ground (meaning, huge difference ). Malaysia based hosting have their data center on Malaysia, which mostly using the same connection backbone (TM) as what you and me are currently using (Streamyx). Hence, it will be really faster. |

As mention priority on Speed, Customer Support, Reliability and less on Specification. As I'm a businessman, every email lost could cost me several thousands of dollars.. and when host is down and mails lost in cyberspace.. I would go berzerk Hope to hear from you guys soon.. |

Vanko, unfortunately I personally only used (and still using) Exabytes, so I could not really recommend other host.
Anyway, the other cheaper host are eternalsolutions.com, ipserverone.com.my and hive.com.my. You can try email their support to test out their knowledge and response speed, and see whether they really have 24 hours around the clock support. A word about the hosting specification (and why you shouldn't bother even if it is too much for your website) Actually no shared hosting website could use 5GB of webspace, or even 1GB of webspace. All of my websites added up only use up hundreds of megabytes, so why most of the web hosts have their basic plan offering 5GB, even 10GB of webspace? The answer would be overselling and competition. Even if they expect you to use up only 100MB of webspace, they sold you for 5GB (or more). Because, you will never use up that many space. By offering oversold features (or specification), the hosting company can stand out apart from other hosting - their competitors. (e.g, hosting A offer RM190 for 5GB; hosting B offer same price for 800MB). So, the mindset you (and myself, previously) are having: "hey, if I can get 5GB webspace, 50GB of bandwidthh for RM200; since I'm only gonna use half of it, I surely can get less webspace and bandwidth for less price" , is totally wrong. Why? RM200 for a 1 year account, the profit margin is already low (put in mind the support personnel costs, server maintenance costs). It is almost the lowest price tag any decent host can offer.Be wise and good luck in finding your host.p/s: I previously work for a hosting company. Not anymore now.
