A 'paid once for a lifetime' hosting plan.

I wish to get a review on this offer i get in my e-mail. It offers an ultimate hosting plan where you're only pay once and there will be no monthly fees. The features are unlimited. Here the website of the hosting company. I hope to hear from you guys soon.

Honestly, I don't think we could trust that.

Lifetime hosting is a great purchase, but only if the company is:

1) Reputable
2) Has been in business for several years
3) Good support
4) Good management

The only 'trustable' lifetime hosting plan I'd recommend is from TextDrive. They occassionally offer that: http://textdrive.com/

1. Do you see what is missing in their web page? They do not have a contact page with valid mailing address.
2. Take a look at their WHOIS information:

5. His provider is http://www.bizgoldhosting.com/. Check the package. He pays his provider monthly fee and he charges you ONE TIME FEE?

For your information, they just started their business few days ago, yes, 21st September 2006.

If they are interested to provide perpetual hosting at one time fee, they would have renewed their domain for at least 10 years.

Try it at your own risk, my advice. IMO, it's a scam.

I wouldn't agree with this totally.

1. Lifetime hosting is totally NOT VIABLE.
2. Even reputable companies dies (eg. Barrings Bank, ENRON and etc)
3. There's no such thing as pay once and you get free for LIFE, do you ever see such things happening anywhere? Even club memberships, you'll still have to pay monthly dues. I've not seen any clubs or anything else which gives you FREE FOR LIFE thing.

So, all in all I TOTALLY AGREE with michaelfoo about what he says.

The most important thing to remember is... there's NO SUCH THING called as a "Unlimited Bandwidth", trust me if you use about 500GB a month, you'll see them say GOODBYE to you faster than you can think.

I got a free plan from them and have been using it for more than one year. my experience is that, you pay cheap, then expect cheap service !

somehow they did revive my account but i'm not relying on their hosting anymore.
psst... how many account you think they will cramp into their server? ask yourself.
my 2 cent, if you're serious about your website, get a reputable hosting provider. good hosting is not very expensive nowdays and it ensure you get all the support you need whenever there is problem.

Aodat: Yeah. I got your point completely. That's why I said if given me a choice, I would only purchase a lifetime hosting company from TextDrive.

Basically, it is not just some form of 'bet' (that their company won't go out of business for the next 10 years) but also a sign of 'trust', which is similar to the sign of 'trust' when you buy a share of a public company that you want to invest in. I have no affiliate or whatsoever with Textdrive, but I love their company. I love the way they run this hosting company. I love their community. And they are the first hosting company that contributed much to the open source community (and the open source community paid back, karma). Their founder is the main developer of Textpattern (which is another open source software that I love).

They are offering a lifetime hosting at $499 and their cheapest hosting plan is $99 per year. Hence, buying their lifetime hosting would means, you simply 'trust' their company won't go 'bust' for 5 more years, then the rest is bonus .

The bottom line is, lifetime hosting is not totally not viable. Textdrive has been providing that for years and their loyal clients have nothing to complain. Those who has bought it simply means they buy a 'trust' that the company will stay for at least 5 more years. If you don't trust them, just don't buy it.

I remembered years ago in webhosting industry, there is always some web host screaming "Overselling can kills". Well, look at the web hosting industry now, if you don't oversell, you are basically out of the competition.

Anyway, since some Malaysia web hosts involved in this thread, this can be a great opportunity to be potentially a 'market leader' in Malaysia hosting scene ( *hint hint ), here's my question to the web hosts:

" Would you think your most loyal client would accept the lifetime hosting offer if you provide it? "

And another question to the fellow webmasters:

" Would you buy a lifetime hosting plan (that is 5 times more expensive than the current annual plan) if your most favourite web host provides it? "

I've been using them for some time and am throughly happy with them.

I don't know where the supposed whois info come from, but here is the real deal - they've been around since May 2005.
