Hello,

Never compare webhosting by its price alone. Balance it out price + service + reliability.

If you weight your purchase decision based on 100% price, then you end up with problems. A balance host should be like exabytes, ipserverone, kkhosts.net etc.

Thank you,

Hi, I agree fully with fivio. Price is only one of the issue when you are looking for a web host. As you have experienced bad service and uptime with the previous host, i believe you know that reliabilty plays a part too.

Hey fivio,
Thanks for mentioning our name, but it is kkhost.net without the 's' :P

Fivio has been around for some time too.

Won't go wrong if you go for established providers

Thanks.

Hello,

Oh, I forgot about the 's'

Thank you,

Depending on your target market I would recommend getting a web host provider based on your target market.

For instance, if your target market are US customers, go for a web hosting company located in the US, since their servers are closer to your target market, thus affecting access speed.

However, for if your target market is located in Malaysia, go for a local web host, since most web servers in Malaysia are located on MyLoca Datacenter at Cyberjaya, in which local access speed to these servers are faster .

In terms of stability and reliability, from my experience, many big/major US webhost are more reliable than Malaysian Web Hosts, and I've hosted hundreds of sites on various hosting providers. Malaysian web host for some unknown reason are prone to go down once in a while, especially if your site gets a lot of traffic.

If you're going for shared web hosting, you might also want to use a online service to check how many accounts are hosted on a single server because some web host cram too many accounts on a single server thus affecting server reilability and speed.

Just my two cents on this issue.

Until next time, explore the possibilities.

Actually, many "US" hosting companies use servers in Canada and elsewhere around the world. Sure, there are some large datacenters in the US, but with the speed of the Internet, physical location is not a major concern.

When is the last time someone asked you "Where is your server located?"

A good deal on hosting, with 6000MB storage and unlimited bandwidth and unlimited everything else can be found at smallbusinesshoster.com

You can resell some of your space, if you want. And with unlimited bandwidth, you have no concerns of extra charges at the end of the month.

I can't post a link, but you can get there easily, I'm sure.

Hello there,

Pete, as for the physical location of the server is very important actually.

1. Local server are much more faster for local ISP. Unless they are using ADSL for servers
2. Content Regulation in the location of the server. In certain country, some content could not be published.
3. Security of the servers. Location plays important roles.

Hosting just not only be calculated by space + bandwidth amount. Webhosting holds crucial data of a company. Thus, balance your needs, budget, and features. Do not be greed to grab unlimited everything

By the way, there is no such thing as UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH. Unmetered yes but not UNLIMITED.

Thank you,

Whatever. Regardless of how you name it, the fact remains that there is no maximum allowable bandwidth, over which you pay additional charges.

There is no penalty for using a specified amount of bandwidth. Use as much as necessary, with no additional costs.

Here is a copy of the cPanel General Account Information for a typical account -

Subdomains 8 / unlimited
Parked Domains 0 / unlimited
Addon Domains 6 / unlimited
Mysql databases 3 / unlimited
Disk usage 1068.26 / 6000.00 MB
MySQL Disk usage 9.26 MB
Disk space available 4931.74 MB
Bandwidth (this month) 1119.62 / 0 MB
Email accounts: 9 / unlimited
Email forwarders: 0 / unlimited
Autoresponders: 0 / unlimited
Email filters 0 / unlimited
Mailing lists: 0 / unlimited
FTP accounts 6 / unlimited

Call it what you want. Maybe Free Bandwidth would be a more accurate term.

Dear Pete,

Like I said, there is no UNLIMITED bandwitdh. You are using unmetered bandwitdh which allocated in shared enviroment. It should work fine if the bandwitdh usage is within their budget. But if you started to pump the bandwitdh, you will get their attention

Thank you,

We are talking about a hosting company which specializes in small business and internet marketing type accounts. They freely use the term Unlimited, while I have no doubt that if Bill Gates or someone from Google asked to use their service they would politely decline.

But, for someone who is interested in several online stores, a blog, a forum and a few directory type sites there is plenty of room and no concern about bandwidth.

Yahoo or AOL will have to go elsewhere, but probably 90 % of web users would find a very good package at an affordable price.
