Hi all..I dont know well about web hosting..so i hope all members here can give the opinions.

My boss paid for hosting per year:

Domain name registration fee=RM 100
Website hosting=RM 500
Service CHarge=RM 50

I thought its very expensive compared with others.

Hi,
What you pay is usually what you get.

Without the specifications of your web hosting service, it is very hard for us to tell whether the hosting service is being overcharged. For your information, there are still many companies out there who pay a lot more than RM500, especially when they require special arrangement for the services (Coldfusion for instance and failover protection... etc)

What I don't understand is the RM50 Service Charge...

Thanks.

You can forget about the middle man. Just get the service directly from the company

I would not say they are overcharging, but if you are comfortable with the service you're receiving, and most importantly, if your web site has good uptime, it is considered worth it

Thanks.

Government paying RM100/yr for shared hosting? You got to be kidding... the government's sites are all hosted on their own servers.

It depends on your company actually. If your company is fine with the current price and service level, just stay with it. I always believe in "What you pay is what you get", you may be able to get the same specifications for maybe RM50? RM100? Don't be surprised if the service is not reliable.

For your information, we have clients who are paying us 4 digits every month just to host a few web sites on their own dedicated servers that are fully managed by us.

RM600/year should be affordable for corporate users

Thanks.

Hello there,

Like Micheal Foo said RM 500 is nothing when you need your website online 24/7. The service charge is normally because of middle man charge. By the way, if your company is comfortable with the 'middle man' services, why ditch him ?

For RM 50 yearly payment ,you can ask him anything you want about the hosting Cheap right ? IT expert consult is RM 450 per hour.

However, if the middle man actually purchase a really cheap hosting and make a profit out of it, then you should ask him to change hosting. Your payment of RM 500 should give you a better server hosting than normal ones

Thank you,

I somehow have a feeling that the middle-man does not provide technical support. RM50/yr to get sales and provide support? Hey, KKHost.Net would like to recruit you! :P

Thanks.

Hello,

Yes, maybe the middle must handle the billing stuff. No problem. For a company paying RM 50 to ensure that the hosting and domain does not expired is consider cheap. Yearly payment too

Uhmm .. a bit off topic aren;t we.

Thank you,

Thanks a lot for all responses..
Actually this middle man dont know well about hosting..if i ask him any problems related with our hosting he will asked me to wait till he get the answer from the hosting owner.Every year he will send Invoice for price hosting then my boss just pay it.
My boss know nothing about IT..

Last time we use Direct Admin then this year transfer to Cpanel..
So should i ask him for the right price?
Should i ask him the owner phone number so i can directly deal with if i have any questions related with our hosting..
Please Let me know what should i do..Thanks
