a comment about mesrahosting

there were one thread regarding mesrahosting here and the thread was closed.

I know, there will be flames and everything to this thread too, but i mean no harm, and i just want to provide my comment on their services.

I was asking about their colocation services, on their website about colocation services, they had "Bandwidth Transfer = 700Gb"

I was asking their representative, at around 9-10pm (June 06, 2007) about that statement, whether it is Giga bit or Giga byte.

That person asked me whether i am Malay or Indian. I replied, "i kinda both actually, mamak. Why does it matter anyway?"

Then he replied, "patut laa.." <-- okay, what's that supposed to mean? Maybe i was using english (because i am better at english when writing). But that statement was very insulting to me. But i kept quiet.

Anyway, that person said, it was 700gigabyte. Thus, i recommended him to change it to GB (gigabyte). Because, 8bits = 1byte and 700Gb != 700GB.

That person replied that "bits are for transfer rate, bytes are for bandwidth. Mr Network Engineer."

I guess he meant to insult me or something. Thus i replied to him to explain further that if you are referring to speed, you need to specify per second (ps) and yes, you are right that without (ps) you actually mean bandwidth capacity. But still, bits != bytes.

I am in fact an electronic engineer, and i meant no harm. I was just suggesting them to improve their services. However, i think some people just cant handle suggestions. But it doesnt mean that YOU HAVE TO INSULT ME.

to avoid confusion, they actually took my suggestion. Even so, the representor left the chat session just like that (really rude to me) and then when i checked back the site, he actually changed it to 700GB.

fivio, I doubt that you'll be able to contact Mr. Zainal anytime soon. He seems to be even more busy than our Prime Minister. Can't even have a few words on the phone with him without him saying "Hold On Please" or if you're calling his office "Mr Zainal is in a meeting" or "Mr Zainal is out at the moment" but then within 20 seconds, you can see him logging into YM. Haha... Interesting ain't it?

I suggest you look for another provider if you are already having problems and are unhappy at the initial stage with this one. Or else, somewhere down the line, you may face even more problems.
