Well, I earn online with affiliate programs and with Adsense. My strategy is mostly content sites which I build on topics that I find can be profitable. I see that some of use here do that too ... but I believe that there are other ways as well ...

Some people build a community site, and grow from there

Some people just build content site ... one after another ... this would mostly to attract search engine visitors

Some build a newsletter and promote within the newsletter ...

I use two types of strategies..
1- mini site
2- content theme site

My strategy to promote affiliate program:

a) Log on to affiliate networks like Shareasale and choose my prefered industry. eg: flower

b) Join 2 or 3 flowers merchant

c) Subscribe to Wordtracker and find keyword related to "flower" and follow Wordtracker advice. Get main keyword that high in demand and less in competition. Optimized the main keyword and also get another secondary keyword that related to main keyword. Eg: main keyword is "cheap flower" and secondary keyword are " buy, order, online, bla.bla...."

d) Order domain and webhosting. buy domain that include main keyword. Eg: www.buy-cheap-flower.com

e) Build mini site that optimized my main keyword ( cheap flower). Keyword density for keyword "cheap flower" must not over 5% . Alt text for logo pic is " cheap flower". Heading must include main keyword like " Buy Cheap Flower Online". Main keyword "cheap flower" must appear once in every paragraph.

f) Built at least 20 pages for my mini site that relate to flower. Discount flower, wedding flower and so on.

g) Put Google Adsense code in every page.

h) Create a sitemap

i) Then I submit my url : http://www.buy-cheap-flower.com/sitemap.html at Google only. No Yahoo, No Altavista.

j) Time to find reciprocal link or exchange link. Type " flower+add link" at Google. Google will list all site that relate to flower and want exchange link. Go to every site and check their pagerank. More than 4/10 pagerank is good for exchanging link. Get exchange link and must not more than 30 sites that exchange link with you, otherwise Google will penalize your site for spamming.

k) Now time to wait for GoogleBot to come and crawl your site. At least 1 month or 6 month.

l) While waiting for Google to reindex my site. It's time to write some articles that relate to flower that used keyword supplied by Wordtracker. Write only 150-300 words only and optimized for keyword supplied by Wordtracker.

m) Finished writing 10- 20 articles than upload to site and all articles link back to merchant page. Articles is for feeding GoogleBot spider. When GoogleBot come, it will reindex my optimized articles and adjust ranking accordingly.

n) Wait and wait again until all my keyword is reindex. Check my site log, whether my main keyword is doing good or not.

o) Google already index my site and traffic start coming from Google and another search engine.

p) Now it's time to check your Shareasale report whether you got sale or not.

q) If all doing well, it's time to built another affiliate site.

That's my strategy.

My strategy is quite similar to you ...

For google, I just link my new site in one of my existing or build incoming links. I don't bother to submit to search engines but I do submit to link directories ...

And now, I am applying a new strategy to NOT spend too much time on the new website after having the site up and running and after the little link building ...

When I am done with that, I start thinking on a new website project ... The more the better ..

This strategy is the best. No need to submit to Google. Let Google finding your site.

Anyway if you like other paid search engine spider crawl to your site, just exchange link with other website that paid for that service. So your site get listed in paid search engine without you paying for it.

Yes, it's true.

Long ago, my site (now closed), has been visited by Inktomi and Excite spider. These are paid search engine. I do not paid for these search engine, than I checked my partner link. One of them has been paid for listing of these search engine.

Check my site at Excite, I found that my site is listed there.

Now I know the trick, I will do it again...

Note for other webmaster:

1- At least try using our strategies . We learn from top internet marketeers.

2- Built site search engine friendly. No flash, less jpeg/gif, more texts/words. Do like Google does.

3- keyword/theme are important. Find most profitable keyword that highly search in Google.

4- Information, information... visitors look for information, give them information. Search engine love it...

5- Promote affiliate program. Get visitors to click your affiliate program. Presell your affiliate program, don't sell.

6- Learn SEO (search engine optimization). Optimized your profitable keywords. Traffic must come. If no visitors come to your site, you fail as a webmaster.

7- Try to make money with your site. Don't built site for you, do it for visitors.

8- Remember this : Content > Traffic > Presell > Monetize

digitalpoint has a great tool called ... keyword ranking monitor or something. I use to use this but became very addictive, and not spending enough time building new websites ... so I refrain myself from it. but nevertheless, it's a great tool
