Few weeks ago i went to clear my first AdSense cheque and below is the latest charges from Malaysia bank:

AdSense clear cheque bank charges

Bank Bumiputera RM10
RHB USD15
Maybank USD15
Hong Leong RM60
Public Bank RM28(Below USD20k)

How BCB Charge?

0.1% charge from the cheque ammount in RM(min RM5 max RM100)
RM5 postage
stamp duty 15sen

So if u have a small cheque then its better to clear in BCB, if your cheque is above 20K then it is best to clear in Public Bank.

RHB Bank charged me:

Commision: RM10
Postage: RM5
Stamp Duty: RM0.15

Total: RM15.15

USD - MYR rate: 3.732

isn't BCB only charge RM10 flat?

Yeah Public Bank charge is fix, if your cheque is USD20k below then charge RM28, if USD20k above then it will be higher.

At first i also thought like that, then i called their HQ and the person explain to me:

Lets say you have a USD20k cheque, convert to RM will be RM76k, BCB will charge 0.1% from the cheque meaning they will chare you RM76. Additional charge will be
RM5 postage and stamp duty 15sen. In this case Public Bank is better because they only charge RM28 for USD20k and below.

Another scenario is you have a USD100 cheque, convert will be RM380, BCB will charge 0.1% means RM0.38. But i mentioned that (min RM5 max RM100) meaning even ur 0.1% is RM0.38 they will still charge you RM5 because of the min max rule.
So for USD100 cheque they will charge RM10 because RM5 from 0.1% + RM5 postage.

i went with public bank even though BCB is cheaper...cause BCB so far away...public bank next to my house..lol

I've moved tp BCB after clearing my check with MayBank for 5 years. I wished I had moved earlier... MayBank is too expensive.

Still EON Bank is the cheapest right now - RM 12.15 for any amount

no la, my $3,500.00 USD cheque just cleared and BCB charge RM 10 only. Last time I deposit less than $1,000.00 USD also the same.

Good to hear that. May be the staff didn't pay attention to the amount because they so use to charging RM10 and assumed the charge stay at RM10?
